I have a 46FX and I want a good fun fly plane for it. I want the plane to be fun to fly, and not too advanced. Does anyone have opinions on Sig Somethin Extras. This is a plane that I have been thinking about. Stinger 40 maybe. I was even maybe thinking about Towerhobbies Uproar 40 or Fun 51. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Well seeing that you are in a profile forum, I'd say you are interested in a profile. The Uproar, Fun 51, Something Extra are in a different class like the Dazzler. They are Fun Flying planes, but really won't do stable or controlled 3D like the planes we talk about in this forum. Stinger is just a circle flyer.
Also there is really no such thing as an advanced plane in my book. Perhaps maybe a Gee Bee or Tri Fokker might break that rule. But again, almost all the planes we talk about, Burrito, OMP Edge, Morris The Knife are all 3D aircraft and all very stable. It's how you set your radio that makes it more advanced.
Your best investment in the hobby should be first a good flight sim. Then a good computer radio, like a JR 378 to start with. THEN go pick your plane.
A simulator will save you many airplanes. A good computer radio you can make the snappiest of all planes fly like a PT-40.

Thanks everyone. In response to STLPilot, I already have Realflight G2, and I also have the JR XP6102 PCM computer radio. I'm thinking of getting a burrito to go with it.

OK Swanny ... I could have just told him to goto OMP's site, because I know they are the best.
But I didn't I plugged us all, tried to stay non biased in my answer.

In lieu of that.
The OMP Edge 540 is BY FAR the best engine for the .46 FX! Plus no need to spend any extra money on guacamole and shredded lettuce.
Buy 2 or 3 extras to give out to your friends!

It's a good thing I have my new Palm Tungsten C with WIFI. Otherwise I would have almost lost this sale opportunity before I got on my plane. I think OMP needs to start selling these things as well. Being able to check RCU and Pro-Bro site at every Starbucks, Airport and WIFI access point is a must have for every RC enthusiast.

Ok seriously now: one vote for the Magic Extra 300L. 46FX on that is mighty fun. I had a regular at my field pretty much in awe at what I could do with that plane. Of course he is a little conservative (vs me, crazy).

HAHA...Thanks Swanny!
OK. Here is the deal.
Look at the planes Billy has listed on the Pro-Bro site under Fun Fly Planks. www.the******************.com
All of them he has listed are great flying planes. Not a single one of them is "better" then the other. Each one just flys a little different because of the Newtonian law of "for every action there is an equal an opposite reaction". That means for every little tiny design change in each aircraft, it is going to change that way it flies no matter how minuscule the change is even within a millimeter of change. That is why the Sledge, OMP Edge, Extreme 540 all look the same but all have different flying characteristics.
In all honesty a UCANDO 46 or a knock off of one is prolly going to be your best bet coming into the 3D realm. That is an EXTRMEMLY forgiving airplane capable of almost all 3D maneuvers. It flies very slow and very stable. Almost too stable. Has no bad tendencies at all. That would be a good start though.
