Tantrum question
Could somebody help me? I saw a tantrum with a Razor 400, and I really would like to build one. Could someone send me a DXF, dwg or jpg file with the plan of this little marvel? Thank you very much

I built my first Tantrum in 3 days, and it flew great with a HiMaxx motor. Unfortunately, it had a close encounter with a light pole. I just received my 2nd Tantrum kit from Mountain Models 2 days ago, and have just started building.

You would not be able to easliy build this plane from the plans alone, since they are extremely basic. The plans do not show many of the parts (only 1 rib is shown, motor mount, canopy frame, etc. are not shown on the plans), and no indication of wood type etc. is shown on plans. It would also be close to impossible to reproduce some of the laser cuts by hand. The key to good flying characteristics of this kit is its light weight. You could not "plans-build" this kit and keep it as light. The kit is only $65 and considering the great fitting laser cut parts, you can't beat that deal. Save yourself a whole pile of trouble, and go online to [link=http://mountainmodels.com/]Mountain Models[/link] and order one.

I included a photo of my 1st Tantrum, and a photo of a portion of the plans to give you an idea.

Hope this helps!

Thank you very much for your kind answer!!
What a nice colour scheme and high quality finishing! congratulations
I think it would be better if I buy the kit. I’ll search in the web page and ask how much is the shipping price to Argentina. And then I’ll see.
Best regards and Thank you again.

Hello Ernest: I was searching in the web page of the Tantrum, and there I found the model. The problem is the shipping charges to Argentina, and the other problem is the costumes office here in our Country: It takes a tax of 100 % of the value of the product. And the result is a model for a 400 costing around 150 U$$.
I’ll try to build it from scratch, and maybe you can help me: maybe you can hang the plan on a wall, and take 4 high quality pictures , every one of a ¼ part of the plan. I can join all the pictures and make the full plan. Or if you can scan the plan with a scanner, much better.
If you are searching some model plan, please let me know,a nd I’ll send it to you if I got it.
I don’t will take to much time from you, and if you don’t can take the pictures or scan it, no problem.
Thank you very much, and the best regards from Argentina.

kitfoxkid,

I am the designer of the Tantrum. I was wondering why I haven't sold any planes to Argentina. Thank you for the answer.

Shipping to Argentina would be $22USD.

It turns out, I have a soft spot for Argentina. I was there twice, attempting to climb Mt Aconcagua. I loved the experience, the country, and the people.

If you would like, I will split the shipping and take 50% off the price of the kit to be able to finally get one of my planes to your country. If you are interested, drop me an email.

Thank you,

Doug Binder

Hello Mr Binder.
In first time, I’m with a bit of shame that I try to copy your plans, but as I wrote, for my salary of 300 U$S per month here in Argentina, the price was a bit high. But if you let me to the half price, I only can say, YESSSS.
Please let me know and I give you my numbers and address.
Best regards and congratulations for your kind offer, and of course, congratulations for your great design.
Bye.

kitfoxkid,

Don't worry about wanting to copy the Tantrum design. I am flattered. Please send me an email and we can work out the details. My email address is on my website.

Doug
