Ok, worked 1 more hour and completed the covering job. A pic is below.

I'm about to go and begin the Final major assembly. When I do planes like this (my Edgeling and Half-Wit use similar final assembly techniques...) I set everything up, glue and align and then walk away for a while (get the honeydo's done....[:'(])

If I don't run out of epoxy, I should have an assembled airplane before hittin the sack........

Total time so far: 8:00 hours..... (if this thread does not prove that a Burrito is a fast build, nothing will....)

Lookin Good!
This could turn into a build contest!! with final judging using scores for both speed and craftsmanship!
the off shore builders (slave labor) must be taking notes

Thanks SpadStick.....

Well, I got in about 15mins more work before I ran out of epoxy. I got the pod/boom mounted, and the top in place and ran out. Will get more tomorrow and add the landing gear block, fuse bottom and horizontal.

I shoved all the pieces together to see how it will look finished.... Heres a pic.

Total Time -- 8hours 15 mins......

Hey Jeremy,

You ever hear of Alexander Graham Bell? You ran out of Epoxy!!!??? That's what the telephone is for. You should have given me a call. I would have been more than happy to contribute to the cause of speed. I've got 30min, 15 min and 5 min. Whatever you need. I can even run some by the house today and leave it on your doorstep.

Great looking Burrito!

Picked up some epoxy at lunch time.......

When I got home, I fitted the bottom of the fuse and the horizontal. After getting them set, I mounted the servos and re-hinged all the surfaces. I rehinged them because the Sig CA hinges I was using were delaminating! I replaced them with the Great Planes CA type that I have had better success with..... After getting them in place, I CA'ed all the surfaces in place and fiddled with the landing gear.

All that is left is to mount the landing gear, tank, motor, wheels and pushrods. Should not be at all difficult to get this one ready for Saturday morning.....

Time tonite, 1 hour 45 mins.

Total time: 10 hours even......

I'm right behind you Jeremy...got her 3/4 covered (had to run to LHS 'cause needed about 1" more red @#%*^) Should have just raided Gator's giant box-o-monokote, his house is closer. Pic in a day or so.

....and another thing. You finally build something that is larger that half-A and you cover it CLEAR!! You must have the eye sight of a bird-of -prey. LOL Even if you weren't on old school sticks I still couldn't fly that thing. Looks cool though...we're gonna have one big Burrito-fly in MEM soon!

Thanks Sloan!

After work, I spent the next hour and a half puttin' a new alternator in my wife's Saturn.

When I got back from the test drive, I tore into the Burrito again. Tonite I mounted the tailwheel and main gear/wheels, the fuel tank, the tail pushrods and finished the hatches.

I put it on my scale and the weight came out at a hair over 4 lbs (4lbs .4ozs) This was with a honkin big 1000mah 5 cell nicad battery (needed to get it balanced per the plan)

All I have left to do is to mount the switch, and the aileron and throttle pushrods.

Oh yeah.... Tonite 1 hour 45 mins.

Total Time: 11hours 45mins

I think Vref and I may maiden both our birds on Saturday morning......

Here's a couple of pics.

This morning, I got up at about 7:45 and finished the Burrito.

Took me 1 and half hours of work this morning because I went back and re-did a few things I had set earlier......

I am about to head to the field to test-fly it (yes my ailerons work the right directions....[:@])

Will give a flight report late this evening.....

All up finished weight 4lbs 1oz.

Total time to build 13 hours 15 minutes!!!!!!!!!

Wish me luck!!!!!

Well, the thing flies, and it flies doggone awesome!!!!!

I hit the field this morn at about 11 and met ScaleDreamer there. We preflighted the thing and checked every nut and bolt one more time......

Fired it up and up she went. No elevator trim, no aileron trim, no rudder trim...... [X(] The airplane builds very straight with little effort. After the first short 2 min hop, I pulled it in and went over it again just to make sure everything was still where it should be. 2nd flight was a lot more eventful. The airplane really does hover as easy as Paul claims and it is a harriering machine. Loops with Flaperons on are obscene, the roll rate is extremely fast (especially the way I have it set up) and frankly at just over 4 lbs, the TT .46 is big time overkill. It harriers at 1/4-1/3 throttle and hovers easily at 1/2 throttle.
By the third flight, I easily had it harriering on the deck and doing the #9 (oops I'm sorry)

Not that I think my opinion is worth a heckuvalot, but this is a darn good design that is easy to build (So easy that I went from opening the box to a flying plane in just over 13 hours) and lives up to the flying claims of its designer.

BIG TIME A+ for the Burrito!

Hey Match,

Great job on the 'Rito! That thing flys awesome. I also appreciate you imparting a little "bro-ness" on my harriers and hovering. Today was my most confident yet with the Sledge and one of Pauls kits is soon to be on the board. Wish I could have stayed, but I did manage to shoot a 78[X(].

BTW....Great photo's....you must have had some professional photo dude out there or something

Great job dude! Glad to hear you like it. 13hrs? Wow that IS quick! Especially when it flies off the board with no trim needed! Hmm, how quick can you frame a PITTS?

Looks cool Jeremy...too bad work got in the way of mine. Is there any one out there who will pay me to build and fly my airplanes?? I just gotta put in the stab, hinge it up and throw in the radio/engine.

SOON it's gonna be as Jess would say, my "blue collar" 3-D machine. These things are so cheap and build so easy I think that the turf fear factor will be pretty low.

I know how you feel novabill I have 4 planes and only 1 engine and about 1 3/4 flight pack. I think I gotta start buying fewer planes and more equipment.
