Matchless' Burrito build......

Ok, Friday night I picked up a Burrito Kit from Paul (we live down the road from each other...)
I taped the plans to the building board last night before going to bed.
This morning I woke up at 7:45 and could not go back to sleep....
Well, its now 12:30 and I am out of CA. Hobby shop does not open until 1:00[:@]
So far, the mount is on the boom, the ailerons are built and finish sanded, and the wing only needs tip plates and hatches to be finished.
My goal is to have this thing ready to cover before supper time.
I think I can get this thing in the air before next Sunday, might get it done even before that if I can come up with a covering scheme....)
Will post a pic or two when I get it to the 'bones' stage....

Paul, I figured I better build while I can. Wife is at the in-laws watching the tourney..... I hope she wins her brackets... We need a good dinner out.....
Well, about 30 mins ago, I finished framing and finish sanding my Burrito. It needs a little more finish sanding in a couple of areas, but it weighs in at 1lbs 2 1/2oz's. From what I have read, that ain't bad.
I started this morning with plans taped down, and now I have a ready to cover and install gear airframe. I worked from about 7:45 to 12:30, and then 3:00 to 5:15.
I will be putting a TT .46 and standard size gear in it. It will be covered in Clear with Clear Purple graphics..... I may be able to get a lot covered tomorrow after work if weather is still bad (will fly if it is good
)
BTW, this is only the 5-6th kit I have ever built (out of about 150+ airframes) as I normally scratch build my own designs...
Paul and I talk design stuff a lot, so a lot of building the Burrito was pretty familiar to me. There were a few things that were kinda unusual....The kit cutting was excellent as usual (menaceflyer cuts kits for both of us, so I am used to the good quality...)Paul did a top notch engineering job on this bird. I would recommend this thing to anyone in a heartbeat. Great job Paul!

Yeah Ann, I built it with a 'Prosis Tail'
. Probably wishful thinkin on my part......
Paul, put the emphasis on fool
.
One interesting note- I built almost everything with Elmer's wood glue. I have built the past 10 or so planes with it. I only use CA in some specific applications..... I think if I had used CA throughout, I could have built it even faster.......
Wife and I knocked out the covering scheme this evening. Will try to apply it this week. Gonna go pretty simple. I would like to fly this thing next weekend. (if I had tomorrow off, I could probably have it flying by dark.)
I really cannot wait to fly this plane.

My gosh...between you and Prosis I have no excuse not to build my Burrito. And from all that Ive read it should be a great building plane. I already know how good they fly.
Awsome Job to you (Jeremy) and Ann both.

maybe because of the pics I posted on the propbro site, the "prosis tail" will become a kind of standard and a garantee of volupty for the plane

Hey Jeremy, I picked mine up 2 weeks ago at the club meeting and got her ready to cover now. Would have been alot sooner, but I have been on the road alot in between. Kudos to Paul this thing fell together when I opened the box. I really got excited when I finished the wing and slid in the Fuselage boom and it was perfectly square and solid (no measuring fifteen directions to get the wing square, Gotta love that!).
Thanks Pauly
p.s. Did I mention you don't have to sand the leading edge eithor. BONUS!!

I know that you guys the "probro" have some strange expresions like "ARKANSASS" and so on
maybe one day a "prosis tail" will mean " a reinforced tail for tail tap" in the probro language

That's OK Gordo! I think that one in this world is plenty!
The big question will be if I build another one how will I put the ailerons on? There's only so many ways that you can mess it up, and I think that I've already done that!

This is great,
Hottest plane on the forum. Great job Paul. I need to kick it up a notch on my covering and get this thing finished.

No covering pics yet Spadstick....
You think I got a real record Gordo?
I got home from work today at 5:00 and went straight to the field. Flew the wizz out of the little Half-Wit in absolutely perfect conditions for 3-d.
Got home from the field at about 7:15 and went straight to the Burrito. Got the servo locations set, cut a hole in the center rib for the servo wires to pass through, and heated up the covering iron. I got pretty much all of the clear done tonite. This included the wing, ailerons, horizontal and elevator.
Stopped at about 9:00.
Total building time 6 1/2 hours.

Ok, I could not stand having no color on that huge wing, so I decided to knock out my wing trim. I hand cut the flames on a big cutting board with some reference marks of masking tape. This is Clear purple UltraCote, so it did not go down as beautifully as a windex/monokote job, but in all, I think it looks pretty killer.........
This took me 30 mins, so I am up to an even 7 hours........

Very Killer Jeremy!!!!!!!
That looks really good. As I ask this question, I'm sure you already have it done,[8D] but will you be tying some of the Purple into the fuse in some way?
Maiden this weekend or will the suspense be killing you after work one night?
Let me know, cause I wanna be there. If you still have any covering left, I can run my gun over for you.
