odonnel racing fuel??
Should I try to run some odonnel racing fuel in my AP .09 aircraft engine ...it sais that it is a blended oil
with 18% oil content....this is 20% nitro, so no trouble with that as the manual states that it will handle 35%
what difference is there really between car fuels of higher oil content and airplane fuels???

Where do you buy your fuel ? What types of fuel do the other pilots at your field use? Most aircraft fuels are blended to prevent foaming to a degree. Excess oil will gum up the works on an aircraft engine that almost always runs cooler and for longer periods than car engines. If the package says blended oil it probably means about 16% klotz and 2% castor. Just because the engine manual says it will run on 35% nitro doesn't mean you should use it that way. The Cox starting fuel kit is also 35% nitro but they run equally well on 15%. Try a tank of whatever other pilots at your field use. FAI fuel has 0% nitro.
