Hello everyone. I got a question for you profile guys. Is anyone flying one of the Sledges or OMP edges or EF Edge with an OS 70. When I was building the Sledge, I built it wide enough in case I ever get a Saito 82. The only problem is that a TT 46 pro, which I was going to use until that time will not fit. The mounting rails are too wide to bolt the engine to. I could probably make it work, but I have an OS 70 that will bolt right up. I know the OS is a little heavier that the TT 46 or the Saito 82, but if this engine is not too heavy, I may no even get the Saito. I am not worried about the power. Heck the 46 is enough power, but I want a 4 stroke in the nose. Also I dont really need the extra power that the 82 has over the 70. Basically will the WEIGHT DIFFERENCE between the OS and the Saito affect it badly. Will it still be solid in a harrier with the extra weight up front, or should I just break down and get the 82. Thanks in advance for any help!

From: Hamilton, OH,
I do not have a sledge but i might be able to offer some advise. I have a goldburg profile and I started out with a Thunder Tiger pro 46 on it. I decided I wanted to change over to a four stroke so I opened up my mount and put on the Saito .82 . The engine was almost dead on the same weight and now I can flight straight up out of sight. The verticle is only limited by sight. This engine is awsome with an 11 x 4W APC prop. It will do alot of tricks now that the two stroke would not do. The cost is quite a bit more but it is worth it.

You have an 11x4 on a Saito 82? I hope you pressed the wrong key and you meant 14x4. I can imagine. Im am really not worried about power as this OS runs strong. We could hover and torque roll my dads Kadet Senior with it, and I know it was over 6 pounds. I am just worried about the extra 5 oz or so hurting the flying capabilities of the plane. Thanks for the input.

As long as you balance your sledge properly, you'll never notice the few extra ounces. I'd suggest an APC 13-6 on the OS70. I had tried a lot of different props on my YS 63 and was never 100% satisfied. One of the Brothers told me to try the 13-6. I'd have to say it made a world of difference in performance. I tried it on a Saito 72 and it worked just as well on it also. I haven't had the opportunity to try it on an OS but I think it would be the prop of choice there as well. The 4 strokes don't seem to respond to the low pitch props like a 2 stroker does.

I like the 13x6 prop on my Saito .72 but prefer the MA Scimitar over the APC. Try one, I think you'll like it. As for the OS on the Sledge, I'd say since you already have one, it's perfect.

What I did was took a Zinger 16x5 and cut it down to a 13.5x5. It has a nice wide blade to it. I shaped it to look alot like the pro zinger. I know that with the extra power I will have with the 70, a little less efficiency on the prop shouldnt hurt that bad. But going by the numbers this prop should be just fine. If you think that the few extra ounces wont hurt then I guess I have nothing to lose by just bolting the OS up to it and take off. Thanks for all the input. Very helpful.

I have had some guys ask this question before but I never heard from them if the OS worked well. My guess is that the extra 4 oz will probably not matter that much if you are an accomplished flier. Let us all know.
