Default E-Power OMP 80" Edge

Just wanted to share these pics, they come from our good friend Dave Sullivan. I'll find out exactly what the specs are soon but just incase you were interested in what it takes to get one of these in the air. Will have video soon too!

This plane will be featured on the cover of 3D Flyer Magazine real soon!

electric is cool, but the price of the batteries makes it hard to make the switch. Can't wait to see the video.

When you buy the battery.....you are paying in advance for all the fuel you would have to buy...so that may not be to bad!!! I want to know how she flys. Also how long on a charge. Thanks Capt,n

Hello all, After owning and flying over 50 profiles in the last 6 or 7 years including the giant Su-Du-Kohi, I have to tell everyone that this Edge is a sheer pleasure to fly and a cinch to build (3 nights). I got a call from the CD of the "Superfly1V" event in Las Vegas, NV. and he wanted to know if I was attending this year. Well I told him "Heck yea" Oh, wait... I don't have an electric fun-fly to do a demo with. So I selected the OMP Edge ARF for 3 reasons: #1 Flys great #2 Speed and ease of the build #3 Price. I always try to do something new and differant when doing an electric. so I said to myself, I haven't seen a electric OMP yet, not to say someone has not done one already. I was hoping for an A.U.W. of 10.5-13 lbs and I ended up with 12.4 this thing is a joy to fly and flys perfectly straight, Slow or fast. No bad habbits and almost no coupling at all when doing all of the cool 3D moves. Here is my set-up....

AXI 5330-18 motor
Jetti 90 Opto ESC
APC 20X10 (for now)
Duralite E-Plus Gold Pro packs (2) 5S3P in series 36V
JR 8101 on ailerons
Hitec 5945 on elevators
Hitec 5955 on rudder
Duralite Plus 1900 FP Batt.
Kirbys Kustom Graphics

Special thanks to Everyone at OMP and Jack price at Duralite

This motor combo pulls 63 amps at 6300 rpm and has hover power at 1/3rd throd.

Hope you give it a try and leave your Windex at home......Bender

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention the flight time. For normal fully aggressive 3D flying so far I have had full power for 21 min. after that I reinstalled 2900MAH to each of the packs. I am creeping up on longer flights, but I'm usally done after 15 min. Duralite is offering a 25% OFF SPECIAL going on as we speak... Check out the great deals that will make this electric OMP Edge more than affordable to you

Awesome job on that one for sure! I can't wait to see some video of it. Especially the punch out from a low hover should be entertaining!

You guys are gonna love the Video... (I assume it will include Las Vegas Footage!?!?!?).
The "Zero Length Recovery" is a hoot!!!!

From a spectator point of view, I would characterize this plane as flying without bad habits or
flying with totally predictable handling....
Would you say that is about right Dave?!!?!?

With a combo like OMP and Duralite, I don't think anyone could go wrong. Tomorrow I'm getting some Float-flying video with it ....

Hey I remember Mather AFB. Did a hop through there many years ago on a C-141. Didn't we (the Air Force) close that base?

I would love to eflite my edge but you can buy ALOT of gas with the cost of those batteries. What was the total cost of just the electrics for the conversion? (motor, esc, batteries)

I beleve that Hobby Lobby has the motor and ESC on a combo deal for about $450.00 and the packs are on sale now at Duralite for around $175.00 ea. Don't forget to factor in the cost of Windex and lots of bounty. A good motor for this plane (Nitro motor) will use at least a gallon a day on a full day of flying. $17.00 per gallon.... you only get 20-25 days of flying. Now a gas motor is a totally differant story. I guess it really dosen't matter as long as we all have fun

them batteries must be getting cheaper. the recent issue of Fly RC had an electric conversion of a Funtana. I think that he spent 700 bucks on two packs.

how long does it take to charge one of the packs your using?

I use the Astro flight 109 chargers and it takes me about 1/2 hr to install 3000mah charging at 5amps. I just fly something else while they are charging. B.

Ragbag, Glad to hear it. This thing is a pleasure to fly and it has tons of power, Just no noise and mess. Just remember the 3 important words of a electric flyer: Build-It-Lite. Have fun and enjoy your OMP. BENDER
