RE: OMP Fusion .46 with vidz
AUW is 4 1/4 lbs using 4 standard servos and one micro for the throttle. Engine is TT Pro .46 with Tower muffler. Battery is a 5-cell 700 nimh pack. Our laser cutter has been down for 3 weeks now and won't be back up until just before Christmas. The entire laser canister blew up! Major repairs we were told. Since we already have engineering time invested with them we have to wait til then. All the materials are ordered so I'm now hoping to have them by New Year's. I know.....I know.....I promised early Dec but that was before the laser blew up!
Oh, forgot to thank my buds from Cinci (Dale, Nick, and Jeff) for coming up to fly and video with us here in Dayton. Boy was it windy that day but we still had a great time. Now Jeff, get that Fusion done!

Just wondering why the Fusion is so expensive for a kit. Are you going to make an arf?

We don't have the price yet, but joebob is right, laser cutting is not cheap so I hope that is taken into consideration. The plane will go together fast and I will tell you right now that it's the most laser cutting on a .46 kit on the market. There are no right angle cuts and the work is amazing Also the CF beams bring the price up as well.
Ball park price for the kit, $109.

Oh come on! Who is complaining about a price before its even decided! ?
$109 for a quality laser kit in this size is VERY fair. I have paid more for Laser kits, such as the OK models Seduction Freestyle, and Stevens Aeromodel kits. If its well executed, its a fun jigsaw puzzle to put together.
Looking forward to it.

Oh sorry! I probably should have written my post in another thread. I was referring to the larger fusion. I love the way it flies and looks but 160.00 is a lot for a kit......... just my opinion.

RE: OMP Fusion .46 with vidz
I see the confusion young grasshopper. LOL Dion pretty much nailed the points. There is a whole lot of high quality laser cutting in both the Fusion kits. Plus the real carbon fiber beams. All this adds up to more cost for manufacturing. These kits cost us well over three times what the older style OMP kits would cost to produce. But this is what people want these days I feel. I've evolved the construction techniques so that the kits are much easier to build. After all, 95% of Americans would rather buy an ARF these days than build a kit. So the kits HAVE to be easy to build and quick.
But back to the subject! I'm still waiting on our laser supplier to get back in service. I posted in another thread the story here but he plans to be back up and running maybe just before Christmas if we are lucky. Once I get my turn in the pecking order, I should have parts before the end of the year.

Try scratch building. Now that's expensive! IMO, I don't see how you can offer kits this cheap, (yes, I said cheap) and still make money. Wood is not cheap, laser cutting ain't cheap, wages aren't cheap, boxes aren't cheap, advertising isn't cheap, etc, etc. Man, I used to own my own business (I used to run a Tattoo shop). I might have made a hundred dollars an hour, but eveyone had their hand out for their share, especially the tax man!
