OMP 65 Yak.
Very happy with the weight of this arf, 6lb.-5ozs, not happy with the quality, ailerons were warped on the end where they meet fuse and warped along the hinge side giving large gaps on the ends, had to cut 3/16 off wing tube to get the wings to fit tight to fuse. Had to cram the saito 100 in the motor mount with gave it 2 degrees uf up thrust, should have a little down thrust. But it flys great, floats like a butterfly!!!

kawasaki99: Do yourself a favor on that HS 81 on the throttle. Make a linkage like this. It will keep the vibration out of the little gears on the 81. The little gears will soon fail if vibrated too much. It is very simple, ball link on servo, ball like on carb. connected by fuel tubing pushed over them.

RE: OMP 65 Yak.
Those servos are probably ok for circle flying but they WONT cut it when it comes to getting anything over half the performance potential out of that plane. Sorry, but thats a fact.
ORIGINAL: kawasaki99
My freids yak has these servos in it for over 2 yrs, more then enough power and his plane weighs 1 lb. more. Over kill is a bad thing!!!!

RE: OMP 65 Yak.
The hitec 475's are rated at about 60oz and are plastic geared. Not even karbonite geared.
I would use 475's in a 40 size plane or a Mojo 60.
If you want some good servos for cheap, check out JR's new ST125's. Metal geared and rated at 125oz of torque, for $34 a piece.
I had hitec 635's on mine and I thought those were boarder line.

Gerald, I think Salmon recommends 100 oz/in servos on the Yak for proper performance. I used 5645's on mine. The rudder and elevator in particular need some serious torque.

RE: OMP 65 Yak.
I will use these servos on Yak:
Hitec HS-325HB ---> Throttle (51 in/oz 6V)
Hitec HS-475HB ---> Ailerons (76 in/oz 6V)
Futaba S3010 -----> Elevator and Rudder (90 in/oz 6V)
I really hope this servos will do the job. I dont want to buy more servos..

RE: OMP 65 Yak.
Scolpit, what was your question? that thread appears to deal with foam core gluing but it's from many months ago. We have kits of the 65" Yak in stock now. Kawasaki99, if you have defective ailerons then your cost for new ones is zero. Contact Vicky on the phone and give her your address to mail new ones. She will pack them up really nice and get them right to you.
