Default Giant Sukhoi

Take a look at the giant Sukhoi I've been working on. Its a lot of sticks, I know but I have run it through an FEM and it should be plenty strong for my ZDZ 50. It is 55" long with out elevators or rudder, has a 35" tail and a 80" wing. Lee

Default Giant Sukhoi

Lee, what is an FEM?
Also, I'm putting together the OHM 80" Edge profile. I plan on putting my Brison 3.2 in it (with a little modification on the nose to build it up and accomodate the back mounting). I haven't started on the nose yet, so I'd like to see how yours comes along. I'll post my too if you'd like.

Default What is FEM

FEM is a "finite element modeling" program that basically tells you where you make mistakes in your design. I use Autodesk Inventor to do the 3D solid models then I convert the Inventor drawings into iges. format and import those into 'Ideas" which is the FEM program.Once I have it in Ideas I can load any part of the airplane and find out where my design will fail and the loads that I can expect to support with the wing, fuselage ETC. Hope this answered your question. LeeU
