Katana V2 servo install?
Hey gang,
Just wondering how you put your servos in your OMP Katana V2 48". I seem to have an updated hardware package that doesn't match the picts in the manual. Looking at the manual, it appears the tail servos face forward, but the new hardware suggests they should face rear. Also, the aileron servos - it seems the servo horn needs to face inward and the control horn should be all the way on the inside end of the aileron, otherwise there isn't enough wood to mount them.

RE: Katana V2 servo install?
Hey DT.. I hooked up my Hitec servo's Elev/Rudder output shaft facing the front
and on the Ails. output shaft towards the T.E. and arm towards the wing tips. all
included hardware fit with no problem... Well there is a slight problem.. But all
is holding so far.. The bulsa blocks for the control horns are a bit short on all the
surfaces except for the Elev.. Meaning that when you screw the three screws for
the horns, the single screw facing the back is right at the edge of the bulsa block.
Use locktite or a dab a do you C.A. on the nuts... Two on mine came loose and a
third one came out...No not on the same horn I C.A.ed and no problem so far..
On the above setup I'm using dubro extra strenght long arms and I screwed the
connector for the Rod down about 1/4" from the top of the screw( see pic..
I get full throws on all... And no problems to date... Well my YS took a dump on
me while working doing a low rolling harrier... It did some damage but alls still
flying
Dang... I left the string in the wing:-(

Hi Dazzler.. I'm unsure about your request?? My pic above shows how my servos/
arms and set.. The other Ail. is the same, just on the opposite wing but installed the
same way...

Ron's picture shows the way I also think is best. I like to put the tail servos facing away from the exhuast side (i.e face them to teh left). I put the elevator servo horn towards the front of the plane and the rudder horn towards the back. Really you could install the servos any way you desire as long as the horns don't hit each other.

I installed my servos on the tail with the shaft of the servo towards the front of the plane I think I did this so the servo wire goes easy in the hole i nthe fuselage for the servo wire..

Why no more info out there on these things?
I'm torn between one of these and a Mojo... I like the idea of the removable wing.
How are they flying? Knife-edge, harriers, hovers, etc...???

RE: Katana V2 servo install?
sillyness... My V2 46/ YS 63 flies great.. I'm no pro at 3D, But it's fun learning...
One of the better K.E. planes that I have, Hovers like on a string.. Harriers... I'm
really just working on these, so I'm not sure if my wing rock is from my delayed
stick corrections because sometime I can go down the runway with very little....
I was looking at the mojo and a few others and ended up with the V2.. I guess
because of my car/space and the build, But I have yet to take the wing off:-(
IMO, All the better named profiles are great fliers in their rights, and believe it's
really just the plane that fits your style the best.....

RE: Katana V2 servo install?
Actually there is a TON of info out on the Kats. A TON of great flight reports on the kat 40s and 70s from the first versions done by Accel hobbies. These new V2 versions are much improved with two-piece wing and stronger all around. Flight performance is tremendous and you can do a search for the katanas on many forums.

I've got three flights on mine is all, and it flies great! I just need to work on my landings since it seems to stall at a much faster speed than my OMP edge.
