I laid Mono over Ultra. Anyone experience hitting it with a heat gun and BIG bubbles coming up? I mean bubbles that stretch the film way out and then immediately go down. There is now way to make it look perfect after that. I'm not sure why it would do that. There is no Windex in there.

hmmm..... I laid also monokote over ultracote with the windex method, and everything was fine. I actually just sealed the edges with a iron and/or trim solvent. There should be no need to hit it with the heat gun. You use the windex method in order to not have wrinkles and bubbles in there.
Don't know what could have caused that. Do you have to recover now ? That would suck !

I don't think I'm giong to recover. It won't matter in a few months after I have beat her down a bit. I am thinking of a way to fix just those two areas. It still looks good but not perfect. I'm not a big fan of perfect anyway.

yeah, mono and mono from here on out. I have an idea to try and fix it but here is something most people wouldn't admit. The plane looked wrong after I slide the wing in last night. When I got home from work it hit me....I put the verticle stab/cockpit on the wrong side. That's right, fuse upside down. Thankfully I didn't glue the wing. I considered leaving it on and builing another one. That would be pretty weird but the tail wheel might not like it.

First of all - I Like that! - Billy
In regards to your comment on your wife not wanting you to build in the living room - Well - it is a "Living room", we live to fly, thereby we build, thence the living room is a perfect place to build! Perfect logic to us!
We never can seem to win, now can we. They complain when your in your shop building, etc., then when you try and combine your building and spending time with them, they complain too!
Oh Well!

It was supposed to be pearl white. I have a little problem with the whole sceme because the mono pearl white looks awfully like silver to me and I was going for the starkness of the white. I'll see how it looks in the air.

How do you like the chopped wing tips? I think it looks very "49 Merc". We will see how it flies. I can always put them back on.

Who knows but the Pen Knife will be going out with it. At least the engine on the GHB is broken in and dead on reliable. The TT on the PK seems great as well though.

Naw, I'm pulling the motor out of the Top Cap. It has the vintage Irvine Super Pipe I found at a LHS. Not as much power as the UT but nice and linear in the power curve. I'm hoping it will be just right. I also have Gator's old Tower muffler if the Irvine isn't enough.
I'm sticking my Enya .80 in the TC. One day I will get to fly everything!

Well short of putting on the throttle linkage (I forgot). She is glued down, strapped on and ready to go. I will weigh it tonight but it feels very light. Looks good. I'm anxious to do a low knife edge pass over the runway. Here are the final pics. Thanks everyone for your help. There are a few things I would do different but maybe she will hold up.
