Hi vease,
As far as I know there are only 2 profile funfly models that you can get in the UK. One is the Thunder Tiger Profile which you van get from Sussex Model Centre and the other is the Seduction Funfly from Pilot Kits sold by Slough Model Centre.
Can't say much about the Seduction but I do know the Thunder Tiger Profile is supposed to fly a bit like a manhole cover cos its HEAVY! However I've not personally flown one just talked about it with a guy who had one in my club.
I reckon the best bet (if you're feeling flush!) is to import a Morris kit cos they're the best. I might do the same soon but lots of projects on the go at the moment so not sure. Hope this helps....

From the bits i pick up it was the heavy Thunder Tiger that killed any desire for Profiles here. i have the Bug from Handy Systems which is a Spinstion copy, it's faily heavy for what it is and i think our style is for slower flying funflys like the Cougar and Magic in a smaller area, rather than the slighter faster style seen in the US with the profiles.

It's the 3D capabilities that they seem to have that really interests me which our fun fly's can't really do properly.
A morris will go on the list but not at the top just yet

RCU being so big and great as it is, is getting a bit expensive, so Marc has offered some options for funding the site to keep it at the forefront and number one. One of these options, and looking most likely, is to have a mainly free site, with some users paying to have options. the free users will lose ability to post pics ( i'll just put them somewhere else and link to them, bigger pics, on the page, slow loading, oh dear
) you also wont have an avatar.
For me ( knowing nowt ) a avatar is a tiny file, and even if we all had one it cant use much space. its very useful for recognizing people, like knowing someones face rather than trying to remember a name. I'm just making my little stand for keeping avatars for the masses.

Thanks Philly,
Avitars and pics do add a lot to the site, it would be sad to see them go.
Another plane worth a look is the Extreem 330 by Carl goldberg.
Someone just posted a movie of one doing tail touches (his first one) spins, knife edge loops.... I just got one a few days ago from www.towerhobbies.com

I was phoning around earlier this week about the CG Extreme 330.
Called Als Hobbies (UK). They said CG had gone out of business !
Called CG in US and asked for UK distributor. They said call Tower Hobbies.
Called Tower Hobbies in US. They said we're retail only and won't ship 330 to UK because of weight/size.
Called CG in US asked for UK distributor again. They said call Great Planes.
Called Great Planes in US. They said call RIPMAX in UK !
Maybe I will next week but I know what the answer is gonna be.
It's unbelievable that no one is a distributor for CG or Morris Hobbies ARTFs any where in Europe. It's gotta be easier to import profiles. They are flat after all. Well....mostly.

Yikes!
I had no idea it was such a pain to get stuf across the pond.
Another idea:
Tower also sells the fun 51 profile kit. it is 44$ and of course is a small box so maybe....
It is a pretty good profile, needs a littel more elevator, but you can fix that while you are building it.
Too bad we didn't have this conversation a few weeks ago. I was in the UK last week, and maybe i could have dropped a kit in the local mail for you. I go once a year.

I probably won't be out till next spring, but if you are willing to pay postage across the pond, i could just as easily mail a kit or two from here next month if you aren't able to get them shipped from Tower or Ohio Models. I am not willing to ship an ARF. Too much risk of being caught in the middle if there is shipping damage.

Another option would be to buy plans only. That would keep it under the 18 Pound limit, and you can avoid customs fees.

Check out the Aeron. I don't have one, but folks have good things to say about it.
The seduction fun fly that Hercmate mentioned looks good too.

I had plans sent to me of the Outlaw from the US, no customs problems and a fantastic plane.
I was going to have a Lill Rippy sent over in kit form, it just looks like a box of scraps so fooling customs would be easy.

Fooling customs is easy. They have a loophole in the system that works every time.
You firstly need a friend in America which you guys apparently have. Here's the killer part. They need to trust each other very much. The guy in America buys the kit with his own card or cash (whichever he prefers) and the guy here has to be trustworthy enough to send him the money by whichever method (I like Paypal).
The guy in America can then post the kit to the guy in the UK as a personal gift as he bought the kit and can do as he pleases with it. Because the postal form is marked gift you dont pay any customs taxes.
I get a lot of stuff sent to me for my cars. Most is alloy and Titanium aftermarket parts although I have received complete kits and I never pay tax.

If anyones interested, I have a Morris Hobbies BalsaNova new and in the box that I'll sell. Just don't have the time to build it so someone may as well have the pleasure.

If you goto the customs site that actully isnt true, the officers can use discression to open anything they want. dosnt even matter if its yours anyway and you left it behind, a jacket for example, if it was tatty and worn its ok, but if in decent condition you can be charged even tho its yours.
The trigger is anything sent postal over 18 quid.
Anywhos.. we're getting off topic, unfortunatly we cant solve import problems with personal gifts. an idea from a old post was to kit in this counrty under licence

Phillybaby - I understand where you are coming from but you miunderstood me. If the guy in America is sending it as a gift he can mark on the docket that it has a value of £0/$0. This is the loophole I was referring to. Therefore it is classed as under the minimum costs before tax and import fees are waived.
But this is off-topic so to keep with the topic:
Have you tried looking at Inwood-Models. They keep a large collection of kits. They might have a couple of Profile planes of some description.

Ah yes, thats works, unfortunaly your screwed if its lost, anddddddddd they can still have a peak if they want to, if the box is too big or heavy to be nill value inside.
