similar to to a slow roll only with your high rates on and the throttle way back. As you go from your harrier(up elevator) you go to a high alpha knife edge(left rudder), then to an inverted harrier(down elevator), then the other high alpha knife(right rudder), then regular harrier. Just make it smooth like you would a slow roll. The hardest part is keeping the plane from climbing after going from a knife to a harrier due to the lift from the wing and a tendency to add too much throttle, especially when you are low to the ground.

I have to agree with stevezero, you need a more capable airplane first. But jbrekit described it correctly if you are rolling right. This is a very difficult maneuver, it will take time so do not get too frustrated. Jeff Williams

Guys, I respectfully disagree. The Magic, with the proper amount of throw, will do a nice rolling harrier.
Stevezero, you are right. The lack of side area makes it harder. You really have to hammer the rudder at the right time.
3D freak, it just takes a bunch of practice.
JMHO.

You are correct Jess. It can be done, but to do it repeatedly takes a whole lotta practice, and a whole lotta throw. I'm sure it can be accomplished alot easier with a different airframe.

Stevezero, Jeff, you guys give good info. I have a bunch of stick time on a Magic. There are much more capable airframes. So rethinking it, I agree with you.
3Dfreak, if you work hard to overcome your airframes shortcomings, it will make you better. Every airframe has a shortcoming.

I bet a morris knife would do a nice one also! At least I hope so... I'll let you know after I get mine to the field! Just waiting on the darn ol' weather.

The magic lacks some ingredients to be a great 3D er IMO. Lack of rudder surface area within the prop wash, too much wing for the weight and fuse side area for knife maneuvers. To do a rolling harrier the wing should be stalled, now the plane is totally reliant on the propwash over the tail surfaces and inboard ailerons. Next, you will need to develop the stick rhythm at just the right time to achieve a nice rolling harrier. This will not be done in one afternoon of practice. It will, most likely, take weeks. I am not trying to knock the magic, for the cost of the arf and its abilities it is a good value. Please, magic owners, do not stone me, I am just saying if 3D freak had a different airplane it will be easier.
While the knife would be better than the magic for rolling harriers, it is not my first choice for the better plane to accomplish this feat. Jeff Williams

Being a Magic owner I would have to agree with Jeff and the others on what they have said about the magic.
For a $100 ARF it can't be beat. But, there are better 3D ships available.
(And yes, V1VRV2 CAN make a Magic do amazing things if it is setup correctly. Right Jess!!??
