I am building a fun tiger and planning to use a ys 45 side exhaust and a tuned pipe. I have noticed there aren't many posts with fun fly planes using the ys engine is there something i am missing? Is everyone having better performance with the OS engines or Thinder tigers? The YS 45 seems to be a very powerful engine and with the ys fuel pump system should be great for a fun fly plane. Any opinions? thanks Mike

you know thats what i was thinking... but people have used ys .45's on profile planes, but its really more power than u need. i got a review? here ill send it to u, if i were u just get the TT 46 pro, it has tons of power and cost less than 100!!! the ys with muffler and glow plug is like 200$!! the nice thing about the ys like u said is the pressurised fuel pump.

I have a Su do koi (Morris hobbies) with a YS 45 on it. It hovers the plane at half throttle. I do not have a tuned pipe or tuned muffler on it, as it is not needed. I use the standard YS muffler. I think what stops people from using the YS 45 is its price. When a
$79-$110 dollar motor will hover it as well. The YS is a $180 dollar motor. I bought mine used for $100 and another one for $75. If you want to use a YS 45, try to find a used one. I used the YS 45 on a pizzaz first.

I have run a YS 45 on a couple of 3D & Profile planes.
Great power and you can put the tank where ever you want.
Combo that worked best for me was:
Omega 30% heli fuel
OS 8 plug
APC 11.5-4 prop
Stock YS muffler
PS. I had 5 or 6 of the Thunder Chicken profiles, because of the weight of them I flew the last few on a OS 61 FSR and mounted the rudder servo in the tail. AND, put the wing in upside down, so you don't see the servos.

I have a CG extreme that weighs 5.5 lbs with a YS 45 and tuned pipe, and it hovers at about 1/2 throttle with a 12.75,3.25 and coolpower 15%. I tried the 20% over the weekend and I was hovering at 1/4 throttle. Bottom line is its a good strong motor.

I just picked up a used YS 45 off of Ebay for $105, ad says it only had one flight on it. Planning on using it for an OMP Edge that I have on order. Big selling point for me was the pressurized fuel system.....oh yeah, gobs of power is good too.

Thanks everyone, this is exactly what I wanted to hear, success with the stock pipe. I'll keep working on mine a little. I think the 11-7 that I ran with the tuned pipe is too much for the stock pipe.
Anyone else want to tell us about your YS 45 stock pipe set up?
This is a nice powerful engine, it pulled my ultrastick vertical forever, even with the stock pipe.
Thanks,
WOOD
