Tis a very good flying/3D airplane, I got to fly Mike's (the designer) last summer and bought one. I almost have mine framed. Jeff Williams

Default GS540P

I love mine...I have a BME44 on the nose...I cut 1 1/2 in off the fuse when I was building it..also I opened up the engine aera so the rail mount bme would line up in the center of the fuse (prop shaft wise) I made the rudder full functioning. Does knife edge ssllooowww. Hovers at 1/4 throttle. blenders, waterfalls, harriers etc real nice. I sent some pics to OMP to post on their website. I tried to send some here on Rcu but said to big,,tried again with different camera setting and still to big, ssooo I gave up. If I were to build this plane again I would build the wing first. That way you could use the center section of the wing to stand upright on the fuse plans to get that aera a more perfect fit. I ended up with some big gap filling to do. I used the polyuertane glue that expands when drying. Dont use to much or you will close off the servo lead tunnel. just a thought

builds good but I'm a little way away from flight tests. Good wood selection, good plans, good looking plane BUT I need a larger workshop

Great 3-D plane. Mine has a Brison 40cc in it with an NX 20-8 prop.
Hovers easily at half throttle even though it weighs 14 lbs. Still haven't learned how to control hover with belly-in. Just need a lot more practice.

My BME 44 flew the CR*P out of my 16 pound 30% Giles. I cant imagine what it would do on the GS540.

Very cool!

Default edge

Thanks Wayne...I'm running a 22x6 zinger...the plane came in at 12 and 1/4 lbs dry. It pulls into a hover from takeoff at about 1/4 go stick..rock solid...I can knifeedge slowly down the field, do a half knife loop and knife back down the other end, easy blenders, waterfalls etc but having trouble keeping the nose from going to hover when trying to harrier. May move cg back a tad and try some more...it just comes to a stop and sits there and when I add throttle and elevator to get the 45deg going back into the hover. I can yo yo it in a hover with the excessive power...this will probably be the first plane I do a tail touch with...after the newness wears off of course 8*)
