I did up a one page drawing for the SPA3D and some text instructions, if anyone is interested. Let me know if there is enough info here to build the plane from.

I think you could build one from the drawings alone..........great job! Dan

Wow Tattoo..you really have the bug!

I'll hazard a guess...given the enthusiasm shown for the QHOR...that this will be a VERY popular plane.

I didn't think that a SPAD could get much better than the QHOR, if this is better, look out!

is this better than the PQHOR?
I'm looking to build sommit a bit knock about coz i can hang good, fly great, but I'm $h*% at just sport freestyle, i fly my planes like i wanna take them home ( which of course i do ) but the skills at flying inverted low, low KE and just being stupid arnt there. need sommit to get over that fear factor and improve the natural reflexes

That's what happens when you have a lot of retired combat equipment laying around

is this better than the PQHOR?
I think it is, but then I'm just one person...so I guess in all honesty the jury will have to be out until some more flight reports come in. Kraut built one just like mine, and he hopes to fly it soon. He's a much better 3D pilot (ouch it hurts to admit that) than me so his report should be interesting. Just from the ones I flown, the Spa3d is more stable in straight up hover (no falling backwards at all)--it's about the same in upright harriers--it's better in inverted harriers--upright flatspins are sightly better--inverted flatspins are way better--positive G pitch response is about the same--negitive pitch response blows the PQHOR away with awesome low throttle waterfalls. I also think full throttle straight and level is more stable, with no tucking whatsoever. The build is also easier, especially cutting out the profile fuselage in the front, and I really really really like the fuel tank mount for hassle free simplicity, and the tank being closer to the airplane's CG. I also like the tail wheel installation...I moved the vertical forward so that the tail wheel wire goes through the aluminum fuselage, and that adds a lot of support with less chance of ripping out the rudder hinge with tail wheel abuse

I think you could build one from the drawings alone
Thank you! That means a lot to me...I've learned a lot on the forums about trying to present a design. Certianly no professional, but I'm getting better at it!

Anyone use anything other thanthe poly cutting board for the engine mount? I used a piece of stuff called UHMW, its a white plastic used on our industrial fixtures to keep from scuffing the product. I made my QHOR mount out of a 3/8" scrap. Worked pretty good for a while. I guess the heat from the engine finally got to it and it kept getting more and more down thrust. With about 45 degrees of down thrust it will really harrier. So I think I'll just start all over with a SPA3D.

So far so good on the poly cutting boards. I've got one going on 8 months old and one about 4 months old, 100's of flights combined, still good as new.

BTW, here's a good view of how Kraut set his up with duel aileron servos

How did Kraut bend his landing gear like that? Did he use some sort of bucket or can as a bending surface? Thanks

What Dean said. We used a roller specially designed to "roll" sheetmetal. The gear is made from T6 aluminum - and it can't be bent "normally" (it will crack/break because the aluminum is so "hard") - so we used a roller and they came out sweet. Time will tell how well they actually will hold up to my 3D flying!
