Default ultra stick saito help

I'm wondering how to install the throttle linkage to a Saito .72 on my Ultra Stick 40. I turned the carb around 180deg so the throttle is on the right side of the engine. But the throttle horn sticks out too far from the fuselage to make a direct or bent connection to it. Does anyone have pictures of their setup?

Thanks,
Dan

Default throttle prob

Get a 4 stroke linkage from your LHS.
When you see it you will understand.

Default ultra stick saito help

Ok, I got a DuBro 4 stroke kit and its still not obvious. The original hole thru the firewall for the throttle pushrod is not lined up with the mount so I can't use this kit. I can't re-drill the hole further out because the fuse isn't wide enough. I hope these pictures show my dilema.

Thanks.

Default Throttle Hook Up

Not sure if this will help but what I did was make two 90 degree bends at the pushrod location. This puts the wire heading back towards the bellcrank. At the bellcrank make another 90 into the hole. The tension from the wire keeps the wire in the hold without a clip.

Don't have a digital camera.

Default linkage

Simple fix. Relocate the pushrod tube inline with the motor mount. Probably take 10 minutes. Be sure to cover or fill the other hole.

Joe

ps putting bends in your linkage will significantly reduce precise throttle control. Just say no.

If I move the throttle pushrod hole so that's directly in line with the motor mount then the pushrod will be too far away from the throttle horn ( almost an inch away).

Why did Saito do this? Why didn't they make it like a 2 stroke?

Default 4 stroke of genius

The pivot arm for the throttle should be mounted near the forward end of the motor mount. It can be mounted on the inside or the outside. I have always mounted it on the outside though.

Default Motor mount

After looking at your pic again I noticed you are strapping the engine in place. This is not usually the most desirable way to mount it. If the straps loosen the engine will pivot in its mount & you will have a thrust problem. It works better if you drill & tap the holes, or just drill them & use nuts & bolts.

ps Hex head hardware & ball hex drivers make installing & maintaining bolts a breeze.

Easy.
Just make a "U shaped bend in the wire and come back to the Th arm. Reverse the throttle servo and your done.
I did it this way on my SExtra and worked perfectly.

One more thing, use a wee bit O loc tite and your mount will be fine.
Been using them for years with never a loosened bolt.

Default Ditto Again

As Mike pointed out, and I might have said it differently but doing a 'U' turn is the 'BEST' solution to your problem. I have been doing this with my YS53 for years with absolutely NO slop. Using wire a little thicker than a human hair would obviously help!
