Morris TopCap engine choice
Just finishing up my Morris TopCap and would like the forum's opinion. I have a few OS 46 FX as well as a few OS 50 SX laying around needing a plane. Do you think the 50 SX would be too much motor? I know ... I know ... Said it myself a ton of times ... No such thing as too much motor 
However ... I don't want to find myself in an extreme flutter situation with the pull-pull rudder and elevator.
I plan to fly the plane the way it was meant to be flown ... HARD CORE!
Comments and advice welcome!

Rick, that OS 50 ain't too much..don't worry about flutter, just run a 12X4 or 12.25X3.75 and your speed will be just dandy and plenty of ooommmph.
Ought to be a fine combo.

Thanks for the advice. I run 12x4 APC props on all my 50 SX engines and it seems to be the perfect prop. The engine - prop - mini tune pipe combo gives me unlimited vertical on planes up to six and a half pounds and allows prop hangs at half throttle on my Kangke Fun 50 (5.25 pounds).
Glad to hear the TNC Tach is to your liking. By far ... best tach in the hobby IMHO.

I have the 50SX and APC12x4 on my Topcap ARF. No flutter at all, and I've tested it in full power level flight (briefly). I wouldn't say it was anywhere close to "too much"......

Appreciate the info. I flew a TopCap a year ago and feel for it big time. Love the fact it will gain altitude in a flat spin. That was with a 46 FX ... the 50 SX should add to the thrill!

Me and a friend Josh Glavin will be flying a Topcap Kit with a OS 91 tommorow, he has flown is a hundred times and its great, so dont worry...
and were also going to finish mine up with my irvine 53!

I second/third the motion ok'ing the use of an OS 50SX. I've abused my Morris TopCap with the 50SX... with great results.
For some quicktime flicks of this combo in action:

After several hundred flights (~300), full throttle dives did instigate the tail to wiggle: more zap in the fuse behind the trailing edge stabilized that problem.

Just looked at the vids ... you fly just like me. Do the guys at your field call you "dangerous" or "crazy" like they do me?
To me ... there is NO fun found in flying a counter clockwise pattern with an occasional roll or loop.
I start my first snap roll when the plane is 4 feet up from roll out and don't stop doing aerobatics until it's time to land and even then it is usually a harrier landing at almost zero forward flight

I have mine with an Irvine 53- out of sight vertical at just under 1/2 throttle, great idle and very good transition. I'm sold on it!

I run a 50 sx on my sledge with great results. I use a 12-4 zinger, and that keeps the plane slow, allows the motor to spool up pretty fast, and has great power. I think you will have great results going with the 50 and a topcap. Good luck and happy flying.

50 SX ... Perfect Choice!
Maiden flew the TopCap this past weekend with the 50 SX ... only one thing to say ... "WOOT WOOT WOOT"
It is a 3D blast. After I get a little more used to it, I can see it doing hard core maneuvers really close to the ground.
So far, I LOVE it!

Got my first runway rash on the third flight. Brought the TopCap in for a harrier landing and found out the rudder tuchs a LONG time before the tail wheel.
No big deal ... asphalt runways are not for landing ... there just a good place to hover over while other pilots need a place to land
