Yeah Chuck.....quit being hard on 'ol Spnr man. Trust me....Im hard enough on myself. I went through 3 spur gears today. I bet if we held a full day indoor pro-bro somewhere it would cause GWS' stock prices to go up by $10 per share.

So you mean to tell me that my plane will like that huh? I tell you Wayne, thats a really sweet looking plane.

Im gonna have to save my OS painted Yak for very special occasions.......real special occasions. My E-Sledge only has 2 real days of flying on it and its looking pretty rough. But d@*! flying these planes are fun. Got to be the best TR practice you could ask for.

Hey did I mention.....that Yak looks good!
Man, if you are going thru spur gears...are you sure the rear of your motor is supported?? If it's just left to flop around, it'll cause a mis-alignment and thrash stuff. A #14 O Ring is pretty good, I wrapped pin-striping tape around the Himax, the Razor I use Macs grey tuned pipe silicone coupler cut into O Rings.

RE: Yak Attack!!

Well I figurd that the motor being unsupported in the rear was causing me a problem. When I was flying in Indy I went through one spur gear from just flying. So then I stuffed some scrap depron between the motor and gearbox.

Yesterday I stripped a few from brushing up against various objects while under power like Jeff's plane or the ground. All it takes is for something to stop that prop for just a second and you'll take out about 4 or 5 teeth and thats it for that sour gear. But Im sure that using something like silicone o-ring or something stiffer to support the rear of the motor would help tremendously. Or maybe me not running into anything would be an even better solution;)

Hey, speaking of Yak Attack...

Here is a video of Wayne flying his!! Watch this..and realize he is using barely any power. At the end he punches it, but all the flying is very low power. Them Shock Flyers ain't the only kid on the block LOL!

For those of you wanting to color your depron 3Dreaming found that Sanford brand gel markers work very well. They cost $3 and you get 8 colors, they can be found at Wal-Mart in the isle where kids crayons are. Jeff Williams

Well it became evident that Chuck Auger wasent going to send me my OS painted Yak anytime soon so I had to cut one out myself. And I liked WGeffon's so much that I copied his color scheme. Just for the record...........Sharpies work GREAT....but the 8-pack of markers doesnt include yellow!!!

Heres the topside......lime green doesnt look too bad;)

Looks good Scott.
What size is that? The smaller or the bigger one?

When I made mine I screwed up the plans in coying them and the WS is 34" Not 36"
I kinda like the way it flies outside with the slightly higher wing loading but its not a great indoor (other than 3D) plane.

I want to do a 40" Yak and put my Razor 350 in it. I just dont know if the motor will be enough.

RE: Yak Attack!!

I know better than that Bill! I studied that thing hard before applying any colors.

Wayne, this is the 36" W.S. Yak with 1" larger ailerons and a slightly modified rudder. Im gonna put a Hi-Max 2015-4100 on it running 3S 1200 E-Tecs.

And next Im gonna build another E-Sledge with the bigger ailerons. I just loved watching 3Dreaming's fly in Anderson. And honestly I just like how quick the E-Sledges re-act......lightning fast. I hope the Yak is equally as nimble. We'll see next weekend.

I just finished one of Jeff Williams Foamy Extras. Flew it today and really liked it from what I could tell in a small area.

Oh, so it's MY fault!!

You'll love this...I went to OS house, and asked for your (unpainted) Yak back. It was in his truck, heading to his shop to be painted in the morning!! But I dutifully rescued it from the paint booth and will send it back East tomorrow!! :D

All I can say is you better be lying.........you better be. If OS was gonna take my Yak to the paint shop today you better get your arse up early and take it back to him. I know I told I needed a plane to fly for next weekend but I'll finish my own Yak if thats what it takes to get my custom OS job!

C'mon Chuck....tell me your lying!!!!

Hey Pug's, I bet you could find a few guys on here that would sell you some Depron....atleast a few sheets to make a plane. I have a few sheets of gray depron that I could part with if you need. Have you tried Maxx-products for the motors? They had a bunch in stock a few weeks ago....but that was few weeks ago....alot can change in the e-world in those few weeks.

I'll give you a few of the links that I use to get al my e-stuff incase you need them. The first plane I built I had to order from 5 different places to get everything.....Dohhhh!!!!

I ain't lying! :D He had it in his truck so he wouldn't forget to take it to work. But you have a Yak now, so all is not lost :)

Look at the bright side, you have a blank canvas to hone your airbrush skills on.

Pugs, you can only get Depron from DepronUsa, I think AKFlyer got some, not sure if his deal panned out. Himax motors, you have to jump fast to get them while supplies last. Looks Like Bishop Power Products has them right now, but they may not tomorrow.

Yeah, Ive got a Himax 2015-4100, GWS w/ D gearing and 1260 prop
Does this motor mount up to the GWS "D" gearbox? I have had a "D" box on my Slow Stick, and would like to get a bolt up brushless. Is that what this is?
