Default C/F Props

APC has them,,, as a matter of Fact, he's the only one that has them! Now that I think about it,,, his C/F props are for engines that are able to turn 22,000+

For my Q500 MVVS,,, I have found that the APC 8.8x9.25 with the short pipe and long header works the best for me out here in Sunny So. Cal

O ALMOST 99.9% OF ALL AIRPLANES HAVE A DIFFERENT PROPS FOR SPEED. I HAVE A TTPRO .46
DONT MAKE FUN OF ITS VERY VERY HARD TO BE THE QUALITY
& RELIABLEBILITY & PERFORMANE. I HAVE A SCANNER A LOW WING SPORT PLANE TRAINER AND MY DAD BOUGHT A RAIDARGUN,
I BOUGHT A PERFORMANECE SPEIC. PIPE & A 10x6 APC PROP
IS NOT FOR SPEED PROP FOR MY SCANNER . O & ITS MADE FORM PHINOIX MODLES, ANYWAY FOR A SPEED PROP ITS A 10x8 APC
& MY TOP SPEED IS 116 MPH & THATS FAST FOR A LOW WING SPORT TRAINER.

208 mph with a V-Vector and a MVVS .40...............

If you could hit 160 mph with any prop I would be amazed.

I would have liked to see the Dive and Tailwind of a quickee that was going 208.

I would recommend that you contact Morris Hobbies so they can give you the details on the equipment needed to go 200+ with a V-Vector.

The props you are probably looking for are at Supercool Racing Propellers

An MVVS 40 will not take a quickee to over 200mph. I think this type of plane could be clocked at 208mph in a DIVE with a QM40, or FAI motor with really good props and pipes, like that of supercool. Typical quickee speeds are in the 130-170mph range, depending on motor. I believe the 7 out of 10 referred to is in a MVVS vs Rossi debate. A Nelson, or Dub Jett are two typical quickee motors.

Kevin-

I'm not sure what you are trying to prove. If you know what motor it was and equipment, then fine. However, I would find out exactly what prop you need. There are probably only a few places to get them - APC and Supercool have been suggested already. You might want to try them. However, unless I am mistaken, no MVVS that I know of puts out the power of a Nelson, or similar. Having the right prop doesn't always equal speed. You need the motor to turn it.

Yes, the web site may have said that it went 208.... But note that it does not say with what equipment! Only says clocked at 208mph... Advertising can lead you to believe things that are not necessarily true. Yes, I would not doubt that the plane has been clocked at 208mph. However, they are trying to sell the plane by saying it is fast and they do not mention with what particular motor.

MVVS's are great motors. I'm not convinced that they are as powerful as nelsons, but, like I said, they could surprise me.

Take a look at this link... One person bought the motor and has not been able to get it to 21,000 rpm. Looks like you?

http://morrishobbies.com/product_rev...215da0ccabbea0

Like I said, advertising is funny sometimes. You probably can make it turn 22,000 with a 7" diameter, 6" pitch prop... They don't tell you how you how they got the 22,000 rpm. For $170, if this turned props and rpms as good as it seems the Jetts and Nelsons wouldn't be selling as good as they are.

At that point, you might just buy a Nelson or Dub Jett.

Kevin -

Sounds like you have obtained a good amount of knowledge towards making good horsepower with a MVVS motor. The thing I need clarification on, is.... if these engines are so good or at least comparable to the Nelson or Jett.... then why haven't I every seen one on the front of a plane? Now my knowledge may be limited to my 5 1/2 years of experience and I certainly have many things to learn, but I would think that for the price mentioned to buy a MVVS motor, that would be a no brainer?

We are also always looking for new young guys to join our hobby of racing, expecially guys that like to go fast !! If you truely believe that your planes are fast (which I'm sure they are) is find a race in yur area and attend. Who knows, you may enjoy it.

Fuel...not fule

Thanks,

Me thinks something is lost in the translation here......

In one of his posts, I think Mr. Speedman is using the term Q40 to mean 'Quickie 40 engine' when the rest of us know Q40 to mean Quarter Midget 40. I think there's some comparison of apples and oranges going on here.

The bottom line is speed clocked in a dive means Diddly-Squat ! You must properly radar gun a model in level flight upwind and downwind in a series of readings and determine an average.

My friggin' car keys will do 200 mph in a dive from 1000'

Put yer MVVS on the course with three other guys and let's find out what speed is.

Now that's the funniest thing I've heard all day. You've got some awfully fast car keys. Randy, I'm buying you a beer for that one !!

And your so right, radar doesn't mean anything unless used properly. Many passes upwind and downwind...and LEVEL...

Thanks, you better buy me two.
Two American beers equals one Canadian. Too bad the dollar exchange doesn't work the same way.

You may submit the beer to Ed Smith or Roy Andrassy at the Muncie Nats. I'll get the beer from them when they get home..... ya right !!

I am (Molson) Canadian !
