I have a Quadra 200RSS with Inteli-spark that continually shears the shaft keys or wants to run backwards. As close as I can find out the initial timing is 4 degrees ?. The first question is, is it 4 degrees before, or after TDC ? The next question is do the sensor and magnet go in perfect alignment or is there some offset?

If the keys shear...the sparks come too much in advance. Turn the ring towards TDC with the timing and try it again.
