Years ago, the FM manuals (the ones I got anyway) came with diagrams. If not, then I suggest talking to JR.
Are you doing internal work? I think there is a 3rd class radio license requirment to open the radio up. Just thought you wanted to know.

Jason, if you had to have a 3rd class Radio License to open it up, then there are a lot of folks in trouble for taking the back cover off to tighten the gimbles.

Only has 3 connections to be made...one to the transmitter battery lead, second to ppm output, third to ground....
I can find the power and the ground but having trouble locating the ppm output
I believe it would be the lead to the ant.

Well' I have several old non computer type JR FM transmitters which are just hanging on my shop wall. I don't use them any more as I have 2 JR 9303 transmitters. Hobby king sells a 2.4 kit to install on those old type transmitters. I thought for about 15 dollars it be worth a try to upgrade these old transmitters. Figured it be good for a small park fliers. I have several grandsons who could put them to good use

Wll believe or not finally got around to the modification....easy as pie, found all three wires I was looking on the encoder board soldered up kit part from HK ....removed the ant. Drilled a couple holes installed new ant. And presto full function 2.4 transmitter with
All The bells and whistles the JR 642 transmitter had, neat!
Only one thing tho I thought I had screwed up something because when I tried it with an old JR 537 servo I had it didn't work, However! When used with a new digital servo WORKS great! Had great range.
What deal less than 30 bucks you get a full function 2.4 set....with a transmitter I was going to trash.

NOT the lead to the antenna, that is RF output. You need the wire going from the encoder to the rf deck.
