Default Electric Setup Question??

Hey guys, I have a Graupner EED 400 Brushed motor with a Jeti JES 20amp 4-14.4volt speed control. It was in a great little flying plane but it used Ni-cad battery setup that never work well so I want to change it over to a LIPO battery.

Is it possible?

What Lipo battery would be the best suited for this motor and speed control? It had an 8 cell in-line flat battery pack.

Your help is greatly appreciated...Thanks...Mike

3 cell lippo of 1600 to 2200 depending on required weight should work.

A 3 cell lipo is probably what you want, but be careul with that speed control as the motor cutoff is set for nicads, not for lipos. You can damage your lipo with too low of a cutoff, so you want to time your flights instead. Take a short flight of a few minutes, then see how many mAhs it takes to recharge, then you can figure out what a safe flight time is.

Thanks guys for the info. I know nothing about the right setup so I may just call Hobby Lobby where I bought it.. Thanks again.
