I am going to be ordering a new trailer.
I have not had one before and am unsure what to get. I fly 50cc stuff with max wingspan of 74inches. I would like to have the option to transport with the wings on. I can order 8'6" wide but do not know how long? I could get a 14', or a 16' for only $100 more. I am thinking v nose and have no idea whether to go with barn doors or drop down door?
Any help or ideas would be great.

Go as long as you can afford. Tell the dealer what you are hauling. Trailers are sprung for heavier loads than we use with model airplanes. If you can get a lighter spring package, do it. I get more damage from the bouncing around in the trailer than I do from flying. Realize, everthing will have to be tied down securely. If you intend to store it in a garage, check heights and clearance before you buy. Most trailers will not fit into a standard garage door.
Make sure you have vents. It gets REAL hot inside in the summer. I prefer dual doors. I light package is nice, dark in there also. Make sure you have a wheel for the tongue jack. About all I can think of right now.
Oh, and check with your housing neighborhood association. Most don't allow trailers of any kind to stay in driveways. I'm storing a friends at my house now for that reason.

I don't have a big trailer yet, but I would say, get as big as you can afford and or store and haul. Personally I think a drop down door would e better to walk easier in and out. I think many people have used the v nose section to build a custom workbench or something close to that.
Good luck

If your like most people I know, the trailer you buy could be 8' 6"x48' and still not be big enough.
Look at it like this, the bigger the trailer the more planes you can have and haul!

At this point I think a 8'6"wide x 6'6" high x 16' long will work well for my Air Force. I will check into getting softer springs. If there are other opinions please let me know.
I have to figure out an interior layout also - hmmm.
Thanks for the help.

I like my fold down door because I seem to walk in and out a hundred times a day. Its nice not to have to step up and down every time. Its also nice when your caring something big and cant see your feet.
Also it nice for those times you need to load something heavy that rolls.
Lay out? Hang as many on the walls as you can to free up floor space. Work bench, peg board, cabinets from HomeDepot on front wall, generator on tongue, Portable Air Conditioner under the work bench, exhausted out the wall, lights, lots of lights.
