PolyTak and Nitrate Dope

Does anyone know if these 2 products are compatable? I am getting ready to cover a plane with fabric and I have both products and was wondering if they will be compatable if I run out of one and try to use the other.
If nothing else I can try a test sample.
Thanks!!

Good question! When using Poly-Tak, I always follow up with Poly-Brush to fill the weave- no problem. When using nitrate to stick down fabric, I always follow up with nitrate to fill the weave.
Several years ago, I was out ofproduct and I used Coverite (which I think is similar to Poly-Tak) to stick some dacron. Then when filling the weave with nitrate, I got some delamination of the nitrate. I brushed on some MEK and it seemed to solve the problem. It was just a trainer, so I never researched the causes, but I have never tried it again.
You can always call Chip Mull at Stits and get good advice from him.
If you try a test sample, let us know what happens

In the full scale world it is a no no. You might get away with it, but more likely it will mess up your finish. A factor in the Steve Wittman crash years ago was mixing of products.

I have a full quart of dope and my intent is to attach the fabric with the dope and fill the weave with PolyC. I also have a quart of Poly-Tak. If for some reason I run out of dope I will only use the Poly-Tak on a seperate part from the dope and not mix and match the products on a given part. No sense in taking the risk of delamination at a later date.
I know Dope and PolyC are compatable so i will stick with that combination.
Thanks!!
