Default WBPU vs Polycrylic

Can someone please explain the pros and cons of Water Based Polyurethane versus Polycrylic ? I see mention of both products in build threads and the terms seem to be used almost interchangeably.

I have not used either product, but am a long time user of nitrate & butyrate dope. My planned application for a water based product is to apply a light finish of silk to a foam model. The intent is to increase the rigidity of the foam and also provide a more durable surface. I've used lightweight fiberglas and resin in the past, but in this case the weight would be prohibitive.

Thanks in advance.

Polycrylic is a water based polyurethane. Its more of a brand name, or short for Minwax Polycrylic.

+1

There are other brands, but in the States, Minwax Polycryllic seems to be the most popular.

For your intended use, the Poly C will work well.
