Default Finding CG on plane of unknown MFG

I have a 46 size trainer of unknown manufacture. What is the best reference for measuring CG? The plane is like an avistar, high wing etc. tricycle gear. It was suggested to me to use the wing spar at a starting point?

You can’t go wrong on a constant chord wing by placing the CG at 1/3 of the wing chord. Example, if the chord is 10” the CG would be good at 3 3/8”.
