Hi,
Just a quick question how to you prime a cowled engine ???
As ive nearly finished a scale warbird and it has a large cowl, but i wouldnt be able to put my finger over the carb as its too low in the cowl. Would just using an electric starter pump the fuel to the engine ??? or would i need to manually add some using a bottle or something ? if so how much ??
Thx in advance

If it's a glow engine with a pressure tap to the fuel tank just put your finger over the exhaust and hand flip the engine over 2 or 3 times. If the engine is inverted and you are using an electric starter you may not have to prime it at all. Be careful of flooding if it's inverted.

Saw something once at Scale Masters.
Priming a big fourstroke deep in a cowl the builder had some brass plumbing that ran to a point on the upper part of the cowl and it stopped over the carb. He turned his radio on, open throttle, take a Sig primer bottle and squirt some fuel down thru this brass tube that exited over the carb. Close throttle to idle turn on glow, flip and go. Pretty ingenious as there was no way to get to his carb much less anything else.
Just a thought.

I also have a large Sukhoi. I take a pipe end (in RC they're sold as "carb covers"), put that on the carb, flip the prop, take it off, and go. A cork would also work.
