Hi All:
Here is a link to a very informative site regarding skis:
http://www.stenulson.net/rcflight/skikits.htm
Bruce Stenulson has obviously experimented extensively with this subject, and seems to have all the parameters pretty much nailed down.
Happy "skiing",
Russ

You've probably got some of the same snow I have, eh?
Actually, the reason I couldn't get any results the first time was a typo. When I corrected that, simplified things, and searched RCU for threads containing"skis" in the last year, I found many, many threads, some with links to personal web pages with detailed articles on skis. The stunelson link is good, and there was another......I think it was "midwestinfo" or something similar, that had parameters for coroplast skis.

The worst part was while I was digging out last Sunday, some guys from the club were flying at the field, and sent me pictures just to rub a little salt in my wounds. The Stenulson site is interesting ... I like the way they do the ski torsioning. Not as soon as I finish up by Tiger 60 (kit) .....

Hey guys,
Bruce Stenulson is our club pres. and I've got several sets of his skis. They work extremely well. Out here in CO we fly as much in the winter as we do in the summer! The torsion rod setup on his skis is very reliable. You definatly want the ski to stay slightly up in the front to prevent any problems when landing. The tail of a ski can make a big hole in the bottom of a wing! Don't ask how I know!

Hi Scott!
With winter approaching, I spent three evenings a month or so ago researching the ski situation (we now have an early foot and a half of snow on the ground, and the lake just froze over last night, about 2 weeks early!). It could be a long winter.
I thought Bruces' design was the best, yet simplest way to go, and therefor bookmarked his website. I am also impressed with the great photos, as well as the nicely detailed text on the construction if his skis.
I have a Hobbico Superstar EP that is under construction, and I have already gotten 1/8 wire for a main gear replacement, and am now ordering the lite ply for the skis. They'll be a tad different than his design, but much of the theory will be the same. I'll post some photos when I have something to take photos of.
When you next see Bruce, feel free to give him my compliments.
Happy and Safe flying,
Russ

Russ,
I saw Bruce today and he says thanks for the compliments.
Jim,
Go to specialshapes.com for the brass bar. They have all shapes of brass at very good prices. The 5/32"square bar is $2.60 for 36". Their ph. # is 1-800-51-SHAPE.
