It is not fuel proof. You need to coat it with epoxy or your favorite paint to make it fuel proof.

How do you know that it's not fuel proof?

Experience.

Squirt a blob on a piece of scrap "anything". Allow it to fully cure, then dip it in raw fuel and watch it soften.

LOL! Cafeen, that was a good question. It is poly after all. I would have thought it fuel proof to. I wonder if epoxy is if you put raw fuel on it? hmmmm

I would not use GG for motor mounts.
I would use epoxy.

Just because something is polyurethane does not mean it's fuel proof.

Epoxy, if mixed in the proper proportions and thoroughly will hold up to raw fuel.

Do you really want to experiment with the firewall or motor mounts of your model just to see if I'm wrong?

Well, I always paint the inside of the cowl area, firewall and fuel tank compartment with fuel proof paint anyway, so the glue I use on the firewall doesn't ahve to be fuel proof. But I would use epoxy too simply because I always have and it hasn't given me any problems.

The only thing I've been using polyurethane glue for is to laminate my own plywood (either plywood plywood or balsa plywood - see my website for details if you care why).

Poly glue is also excellent for sheeting foam wings as well as glueing in Robart hinges. That is, as long as you are careful to wipe it up as it expands otherwise it migrates into the hinge knuckles.

I've personally found out that just about anything is fuel proof enough to outlast my planes.

I use GG all the time and "SO FAR" have seen no reason not to. Seems to be fuel proof enough. Seems to be resistant to vibration effects. Seems to adhere to about anything.

Sorry I gotta keep saying "SEEMS TO"
The stuff hasn't been used long enough yet for any LONG TERM opinions.

The only problem I have seen is improper testing by people to form opinions.

We've been using gorilla glue for quite a while here as a fuel proofer. When thinned doen to about 50% with acetone or AA thinners and painted on all over the fuel bay area, it forms a hard coating for bugger all weight. Also useful for making fillets.
