*Inverted Engine Problem*

I've got a Super Tigre G51 2S engine that I have inverted on a U-CAN-DO .46 and I'm using a easy fueler so I can leave it hooked up to stop the siphon problem but what can I do about in the air when you cut back to idle and it wants to load up the cab. Is there something I could add so the engine will perform better?

I had the same problem with my excite and solved it by installing a cline fuel pump, not a regulator a pump it will solve all your problems.

Is this something other than the main neddle valve that you ajust at the field?
Yes there are two needles. You don't need a Cline. Get someone to help you adjust the low speed needle, it's too rich.

Some thing else you can do if the carb adjustment doesn't work and you have an extra channel. Install an onboard glow driver. You can make this yourself for about 10 dollars or less, all parts are available at your local radio shack. All you need is a length of push rod, a peice of wood, 2 AA battery trays, wired so the batteries are in parralel NOT SERIES, and 2 EZ connectors, a switch with the spring loaded arm and roller and some wire. If you don't have the extra channel for it you can set the servo up on a Y-cord and have it operate in the oposite direction of the throttle servo so that when you go back to idle it turns on the driver. I can give a more detailed discription if needed. let me know.

You would also do well to put a hot glow plug in it, such as an O.S. F or an Enya No. 3. A hot plug will burn a slightly richer mixture, which is sometimes hard to avoid throughout the throttle range on an inverted engine. In any case, both high and low-end mixture should be tuned.

Got the same set up U-CAN-DO 60 with a Saito 100. Just fried a set of bearings in 1 season trying to lean the engine to compensate for the siphoning caused by the tank. The tank is in the wrong place, this caues the mixture to be richer or leaner depending on the fuel level in the tank. When the fuel level in the tank drops below about a 1/4 tank the syphon effect is almost gone and the engine is then too lean. Unless someone has riged up an on flight mixture adustment it will contionue to be a problem, until the plane goes under the knife.
