Can someone tell me what the best way to remove monokote is? I've gotten an older Sig Four Star 60 model that I would like to strip down, check out the airframe, make some modifications and recover it.
Would I heat this with a heat gun and just work at it, or is there some other magical solution to removing the covering?
Thanks!

The only thing that works all of the time, is to take your time.
I have used a heat gun and pulled the covering off. To get all of the small pieces that are stuck here and there, try brake cleaner. It will soften the glue and the pieces will pull right off. The brake cleaner will also pull any fuel/oil out of the wood as you go. Then a good sanding job and you are done. Before you recover it, put a coat or two of Baslarite on. Use the stuff in the white and green stripped can.

I apparently posted this in the wrong area. It was moved, then I reposted question in the wrong area again. One day I'll learn. Anyway, another reply I got on the second post was to use acetone to remove any traces of the old covering.
Sounds like I have a pretty good start. Thanks!
