Default Painting problem

I've primed, puttied and sanded the wing to my F4 Phantom. I used Rustoleum automotive primer and the wing turned out well. However, after I painted it using gloss-black paint from Behr the wing suddenly is showing all kinds of imperfections that didn't show up in the primer stage. Do darker colors reveal imperfections more than lighter colors? If so, I'll need to strip the paint from the wing and go with a lighter color.

Thanks for the input -

Randy

Yes, generally darker colors will show imperfections better than light colors

A plastic modeling trick is to spray on a coat of silver and wet sand with your final grit. Any high spots will show primer and dings will show as shiny spots on the surface ..... Primers are great for filling, but don't show imperfections well - as you discovered

Cheers!
