Some years back...WAY back... I read an article by a fellow who had adapted some simple mechanical retracts into the fuselage of a Midwest AeroStar trainer. The nose wheel retracted normally, but the mains swept up and forward, exactly like the main gear on a Cessna 210.
I don't remember which magazine it was in, let alone who wrote the piece. If anyone remembers it and can steer me in the right direction, I'd sure appreciate it.

I have a trainer w/retracts. I converted it to a taildragger and the wheels fold rearward. The retracts are mounted at a 45 degree angle inside the fuselage just in front of the wings. If you want pics let me know..

This is a plane I use as an advanced trainer for students until I pulled the gear for another project. I built it with retracts and huge flaps in order to incorporate all six channels of the radio I was using..

I remember that article as well. I think it was MAN, but it was so long ago that I don't remember what issue. I think it was about 5 years ago. Maybe an email to MAN could help.

I think you're right; and I think it was a helluva lot longer than 5 years ago!
I'll call them; but five bucks says that without the author's name or the issue number/date, I'm SOL.

I know you wrote this a while ago, but I have a copy of the article you are talking about in one of my How-to's books. It is by Model Airplane News. If you still need it, I could possibly copy it for you.
