replacing gears in servos?
i noticed unusual movement in one of my servos(JR 527) and i took off the casing and noticed some of the teeth were missing from one of the gears. I was wondering if someone sells gear replacements for servos?...i know it's a cheapo servo but if the replacement is cheap i'd still like to keep it.

a well stocked hobby shop that sells jr should have them last time i replaced a gear set in a jr 341 it was under $5 and took maybe 5 minutes.you can always check the horizon site and see what they sell them for.

Be SURE to note which gear goes when when taking them out.
And keep track of any axles.
If you misremember the sequence when putting in the new gears, the odds are you'll never get it right.

RE: replacing gears in servos?
If you cannot find replacement servo gears
Throughout the years, I have had several servos do as you say. Luckily, I never throw them away. Having acquired 15 plus servos with stripped gears, it was a simple matter of taking good gears from one servo and swapping into another. doing this, I was able to save 10 servos, with extra gears if I need them.
In short- Save the servos. Gears from one can be used to replace another.

tukkus,
I once stripped some gears too. I was able to
turn them around 180 degrees & it worked.
It will depend on which gears have stripped &
how much throw you need from it.
Good Luck!

Replacing with new gears is quite simple. One caution though, there is usually grease in the servo gear area and there may be broken teeth from the damaged gear concealed in it. Remove the grease and check for any foreign parts buried in it as they will jam the new gears sooner or later if left in the grease. Do take a good look to make sure you know the order the new gears have to go back in, best make yourself a little diagram or take a digital picture prior to dissassembly. If all else fails, carefully open up a good servo and use it as a guide for putting in the new gear set.
