Default Bi-planes

I have been flying about 6 months and have 275 flights on a Nexstar, Kaos and the Hanger-9 P-51 Mustang without aids. No accidents!!!!!
I am interested in a Bi-Plane that looks real fly's well and does realistic stunts. Possibilities: Tiger Moth, PT-17 Stearman or something in the .60 range.
Any suggestions????

That's really a matter of personal preference. Stearman's look cool, but I like the short-wing, round-tail look--a Pitts or a Starduster or even a Sig Hog bipe (not scale, though). The Goldberg Ulitmate is in your engine range. It's easy to build and flies great. Only problem is, it looks like an Ultimate.

Dittos on the Ultimate, nickj. Although they're great flying planes, outstanding aerobats and everyone has one, I like something a bit different. Besides, I like the classic short-wing, round-tail look too.

TomTreese, you didn't say if you wanted an ARF or a kit but you might consider the Great Planes Super Skybolt .60 kit, modeled after the real thing. I'm no expert flyer and it's a real pleasure to fly this. Very forgiving, but it can do all sorts of stunts. My dream machine is a 33% or 45% WACO YMF-5.

I prefer an ARF. For the $$$$$ I think the PT 17 may be where I go. How does the Great Planes Tiger Moth ARF fly???

Before you lay out $300+ for the Stearman (you ARE talking about the 72 inch one?) it's a bit bigger than .60 size. Look at the Sportsman Aviation WACO 60 ARF. There was a long thread on the ARF forum not too long ago. I absolutely LOVE mine. It calls for .60-.90 2-stroke, or .80-.91 4 stroke, has a 58 inch top wing, is well-built, nice cover, sells for about $225-$230 (or less, at times). I have an .80 Saito in mine and it hauls butt, does great aerobatics. Comes with wheel pants, I left mine off to put larger wheels on it.

IMO the best bipes out there are still in kit. The hog is awesome (although not a scale plane). The Skybolt is about as cool as they come. It is an awesome plane and looks great. I think it would be worth the build if you would consider that.

And the Skybolt kit only costs $150. It's a very stout airframe so it can take a few bumps. I finished mine out with an OS 1.20 III pumped 4-stroke and will go vertical until you can't see it. It takes off effortlessly with no elevator control, then it does all the stunts you can want, and then it lands like a trainer. But it is a kit and some aspects of the build are a little complicated so I would recommend you ask a friend to build it for you. You won't be sorry. I've had or currently have a CAP-232, Citabria and two Corsairs and I love flying this plane even more than my beloved Corsair.

I've basically done the same thing you have with the same planes and I just did a Super Stearman. The plane looks great and flies beautifully scale. You can check out my video and user review on it. It's NOT a .60 though. I used a 1.20 Magnum.

khodges, Thanks for the response. The Waco looks great. I don't want to spend $950.00 for my first BIP. You can have this in the air for $550.00. I'm going to Dayton next week and I want to go to the Waco museum in Troy Ohio.

Tom,
I have a 1/6th scale Pica Waco YMF5 that is a superb flier. I have a Super Tigre 90 in her for power. This is a great airplane and looks magnificant on the ground as well as in the air. Good luck.
