I use clip-on sunglasses. I am fortunate that I have found some at the local Walmart that match the shape of my glasses very well. The older flip up clip-ons will work but they're not the most attractive.

I used to use the clip-ons as well. But I recently got new glasses that comes with a set of sunglass "add-ons". These sunglasses attach to the frames of my glasses using high power magnets. The sunglasses are the same shape as the glasses from so they match perfectly. I love this setup!!!!

Rclaser I don't know if they have Walmarts in Greece but I got polarized sunglasses for $20 that fit over my regular glasses . My prescription glasses have a small frame and lenses though so it would depend on how big your glasses are . These are not the huge sunglasses you see seniors wearing they are smaller and a little better looking [8D] . If you can get either kind it dosen't matter what it looks like if it keeps you from loosing sight of your plane . Here is a link to the brand I have .

I use the Zurichs because I like the safety factor. The fulsize ugly glasses are not very stylish but fit over my scrips great. No problems. I use the rose shade which makes the models show up great against the sky.

When I change prescriptions it's usually only a small amount. So when I get my new ones I have my old ones tinted or coated for use as sunglasses. Not as good as polarized glass but help a lot and are virtually free. My Dr. does it for me for free.

Rclaser,
Companies who make safety glasses usually make units that are designed to fit over regular glasses.
They also come in a variety of tints for use as sunglasses.
I prefer these since they are designed to take a lot of impact and they usually protect the sides.
Just accomplished two jobs in one action - safety glasses and sun glasses.
Good Luck,

bruce88123,
I tried to use my old scrip as sunglasses and even though my eyes had only changed a little bit I had problems. First things were a little fuzzy after I had gotten used to the new scrip and then I got a headache after about half an hour. Ruined the day for flying. I just bit the bullet and got scrip sunglasses, much better. Mine are rose colored and they get rid of all the glare.

Have you considered contacts? I use the disposable, toss after two months. Cost was $40.00 per year. 20/15 vision with contacts. The biggest benefit is night vision while driving, much better than my specs.

Clip-on polarized. Actually, mine are magnet-on that were sold right with the original frames. I also wear real hats with real brims.

And fly really, really brighty colored planes with contrasting over vs. undersides.

Hobie,
I know nothing is certain in life but if a glow plug blows or a prop sheds some material, these Zurichs are supposed to withstand a hell of a hit. In addition they have a pretty good rating for uv and infrared protection. Thank goodness I've not had debris from a model hit me in the eyes. Prop in the finger however, is a different story....
