I instructed on Wed evenings in the summer until 830 or 9 then went to work at 1030 pm. flew for me on Sun all day. My youngest daughter was with me (9 now 12) Built or whatever on Saturdays ........ Married to a working Nurse...3 Kids 2 grown and the 9 yo .......
However as I told my students you gotta keep Mama happy... If Mama aint happy your flyin and especially your building are gonna be curtailed. Now Iam not one to tell you how to live or raise your kids.. but in a month or 2 no ones gonna remember how you greased it in or saved this one on a dead stick..... But your kids will remember how Dad is always at the field.. not a sermon just a thought
good luck......Ps married to the same one for 31 yrs. You know you can always teach em all to fly

Married, two grown kids, full time job (50+ hrs) Involved in community activies too.
2-4 hours per day on the forums or in the work shop. Since becoming involved, this has replaced a LOT of TV time.
5-8 hours per weekend flying
Friday night date with the wife each week.

2 hours a day along with hockey and baseball. Don't let your school grades drop or unless you want your parents to cut out your hobby activities (30 years ago). Don't ask me how I know.

I am 16 years old and I spend a lot of time on my planes. On average per week, i spend probably 2 hours a day. That includes sim time and building. During the summer on some days when i go to the field i stay out there for about 8 hours and go about 5 times a week. I also play hockey and baseball.
Flyboy just wondering where exactly in Saskatchewan are you as i live in yorkton.

It's pretty quite around here with her gone now j/k!!! No i guess i should have phrased it properly we were discussing what would be acceptable as for time spent out in the garage. It actually works not to bad as my son likes to tinker with his bikes and sled and my daughter just wants to be where the action is so the garage is a happening place on a lot of nights. We have come to the conclusion that between 2-4 hours a week in the garage building and fixing and if the weather is nice on the weekend then i get one day for flying. The winter is rough for my wife as she had a large non-cancerous brain tumor removed 3 years ago and it has affected her balance a fair bit, so with all the snow and ice in the winter she has a harder time getting around, plus driving around town is fine but she doesn't feel comfortable driving on the hwy so i drive for all of my sons hockey so I am gone a lot with that. Summer usually isn't a problem because she loves to garden and play with her flowers and we spend a lot of time at the lake. We have a ski boat so some days the planes sit and we go skiing/wakeboarding, but i always make sure the beaver on floats is charged and ready to go to!!!

Sounds to me like you got it down pretty good. As the kids grow an find there own lives, you`ll find more time for your hobby. Be patient, it come fast enough.
Remember , there a good chance of finding a flier in a grandchild. Keep the faith LOL
