Default How do you properly align a motor when mounting

I am trying to figure out how to align vertically and for horizonal thrust angle. I'm trying to do it by eyeing it but I just can't. Are there any tricky ways of measuring the incidence of the motor up and down. What should the thrust line be parallel to.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

This is really great stuff. Thanks. Is there widely used thrust line offset? A little bit of down could mean a lot of things.

I don't remember seeing a full scale airplane with any offset in the engine. ( I'm sure someone will try to correct me) I don't use any right offset or down thrust on my scale models either. I've seen this over the years, but I feel that those who use these offsets are doing it to compensate for something else (horizontal stab incidence off, or not wanting to use rudder when flying) Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think so. Let's hear from some of you aeronautical engineering types.

After playing with the model I found that getting accurate enough measurements to make the trig useful was kind of hard.
