Default Help w/ Muffler

Hello. Just bought a plane off a guy and I am in the process of cleaning up and making some upgrades/mods. The engine is a Saito 1.80GK and I believe a pitts style muffler.

My question is: What is the valve/nipple on the end of the muffler? Is it for smoke? Right now it is capped of w/ about 3 inches of tubing attached.

Take a look at the picture. There are two nipples. The top one returns to the fuel tank which I believe is for compression and fuel draw...correct? The other I am not sure.

Do you know if this is a Slimline brand pipe? The bottom nipple assembly looks a lot like the assembly on my Slimline muffler on my G-26 gasser. Remove the black hex screw that holds the plate the lower nipple is mounted to, and remove the small round plate. It probably has a small cylinder with a helical channel that is machined around it, and the small well it mounts in should have a small hole at the bottom. What this does is feed smoke oil through the helical channel, which allows it to preheat before exiting the small hole into the muffler, increasing the efficiency. There's also an O-ring that seals it, careful not to tear or lose it when you remove the plate. The different slots allow you to rotate it for most convenient nipple position. Nice looking pipe for the Saito.
