Default Source for thin CA

Can thin CA be bought anywhere else other than the hobby shop?
The reason I’m asking is I live about an hour away from the nearest hobby shop and its not worth the $20 gas to drive up there.

Note: I’m using it for CA hinges so it has to be thin.

Many hardware and building supply stores sell CA. They often sell it under the "Super Glue" brand rather than the hobby brands. Also check stores that sell arts and crafts supplies.

Almost all of your online hobby shops also sell ca. When I place an order online I usually order in a couple of extra bottles. Keep your unopened bottles in an unheated part of the basement (or refridgerator ) for long term storage. Just let the ca get to room temperature before using it. My wife recently found a 2 year old bottle of thin ca in the refridgerator I had forgotten about. It works fine.

DO NOT store opened bottles of ca in an unheated area of the basement OR the refridgerator. It will form condensation inside the bottle and can cause the whole bottle to "kick". Keeping open bottles in your workshop is normally OK. I have my winter workshop in the basement of my house (temp stays about 55 degrees ) and I have had no problems with open bottles kicking. I have 1 bottle of thick ca that is about a year old and except for being a little thicker, it is fine.

Try your local Hobby Lobby "farts & craps" store. Mine has "Extreme power" CAs in thin and thick. It's a house brand, don't know who makes it. Found in the paints and glue section for model cars.

I buy Mercury Adhesives from this site in NJ. http://www.3dxhobbies.com/ The last time I ordered ( a month ago) they didn't even charge for shipping. I like the Mercury CA stuff better than the usual hobby shop brand.

In a pinch, the glue women (mostly) use to stick on their fake fingernails is CA. Super glue and crazy glue are probably cheaper though.

okay, I'm going to learn something here. What is wrong with WalMart. I buy 4 tubes in a pack for $1. Per ounce it comes out cheaper than bottles. Is there something wrong with it?

The poster is looking for a source for "Thin" CA. Super Glue, Crazy Glue, fingernail glue etc, are not "thin".

The stuff (super glue) that I use is as thin as water and I get it at WalMart. I really can't tell the difference in it and the great planes thin that I have. I use the WalMart stuff on ca hinges. Is that a bad thing? I've never had trouble.

Tower has them all, thin, medium and thick, and a dozen different brands.
