Default Remove fuel from Balsa.

I have a fuel soaked fusalage and would love to restore it without having to rebuild the plane. Does anything take the fuel out of Balsa?

K2r spot lifter for clothing, carpets and upholstery does a great job of removing fuel from balsa. Just spray it on, let it dry completely, and brush/vacuum off. Repeat if necessary.

You should be able to find it at Wal-mart, most grocery stores, etc. If you can't locate it, call their help line at 1-800-787-6060 for a local retailer.

I had reason to replace the muffler on my BIG LIFT and found the fire wall soaked. I could not find K2R here so I pulled everything off/out of the front and am now soaking the nose in Oil Dry(aka kittylitter). Will let you know the results.

denatured alcohol and cornstach.soak the fuel soaked end in a bucket of denatured alcohol outside away from flame etc for 15 - 30 minutes agitate about every five minutes.remove let alcohol evaporate sprinle corn starch on to soak up any more oil.heat from heat gun or exposure to sunlight will help drive oil out of wood and corn starch will soak it up.repeat as neccassary

Default Removing oil

My trainer servo deck got soaked by fuel a while back, I removed it and made a paste of baking soda and rubbing alcohol.

I piled it on very thick and it pulled the residue right out from the wood as it dried.
It took about 15 applications to get almost all of it out. I used a hair dryer bolted onto a stand to speed up the process.

The denatured alcohol might be quicker as suggested above.
