Throttle Servo is getting interference with gas engine?
[>:]I have a gasser that is new, and the throttle servo keeps jumping around when engine is running. None of the other servos are doing this. I have a seperate battery to the engine, and another battery to the servos. I tried a new servo for the throttle, and it did the same thing. I have a plasic ball link at the engine for the linkage, however the rod is 4-40 metal. Any ideas or tips?

RE: Throttle Servo is getting interference with gas engine?
I have seen problems like this with gas engine ignition systems. A fellow club member was getting much unwanted servo action when the engine was running. I convinced him to convert to a 2.4 ghz FASST system and the problem was eliminated. He was able to fly safely with confidence. In your situation I would be afraid of other interference during flight which could be fatal. Some ignition systems will interfere with FM, even PCM/FM. I hope this helps.

I am using a new Futaba 2.4 ghz fasst system with a 10c radio. Like I mentioned, it is only the throttle servo itself that is getting the RF. I believe that the throttle servo is too close to the ignition system, and is picking up the RF.

I agree on the metal pushrod, get rid of it.
Also, what type of engine and ignition are you running? I have a Fuji-43 that would interfere really bad. I had everything set up "right" but couldn't eliminate the problem. Finally, I installed a new ignition from CH and the problem was solved.
The whole thing about 2.4GHz being immune to interference is not necessarily true. It is far less prone but if something such as an ignition is producing just the right frequency, the receiver or possibly the servos can pick it up.

Ignition interference can be random.
I had a gas job that flew fine and then one day it would act like I was taking a hit on the back straight every time I flew by.
I was looking the plane over and found that one of my kids had traded out my resistor spark plug for a plug out of a weed whacker they were using and never told me.

Yes like mowing grass and hitting something. You look to see what it is and it was your best pair of Klien Needle Nose Pliers that had been out in the grass so long that they were rusted stiff.
That's what kids are for . . . . Enjoy them while they are still at home.

RE: Throttle Servo is getting interference with gas engine?
Well I went and started the engine up without the metal linkage hooked up. I put a long plastic servo arm on the servo so I could see if there if RF. THE RF IS GONE. Even though I had a plastic ball link on one end, and a plastc contol arm on the other end, the RF still managed to get to the servo. I have to use plastic now or something. I am running a CRRC 40, and the engine runs auwsome. Any tips on linkages, cause it is not a straight shot, and the distance is about 5 inches. Thanks everyone for all the help.

I use the black/white Sullivan Golden Rod. The black is supposed to have less expansion and contraction

The one in the picture has regular Golden Rod and it has never given any trouble
