looking for a new buggy

John, I agree the 810 is a monster. My neighbor has one and he is not easy on it. One day we were bashing around his yard when he got the idea to angle one of his stones he uses as a flower bed edging. He was hitting this rock and launching into a tree and watching it tumble down. It's a tough buggy. I personally want a full size 8th. I know the 2.0 is awesome, just new it's out of my price range and I don't like spending more than $200 on a used rc unless I know the person I bought it from.
Rccheech, I'm not offended. I understand about Redcats reputation. Many people have had bad experiences with them. I myself have not. I think for the price you get a lot. There customer service must have been terrible because I've heard many horror stories about it. All I can say is their newer vehicles are a good value for someone who couldn't just walk into a hobby shop and buy a $600 Revo. I'm not trying to compare a $320 Avalanche to the Revo, but it's just the reality of it. Many people get scared away from this hobby because of cost and with brands like Redcat/exceed in the mix, at least these people get a chance to get their feet wet.

My vote (as usual) would be the Hyper.
It is a tough car and even if you should do something really silly and actually break something, then parts are really cheap and plentiful (at least over here).
As someone already said you will not be unhappy with any of the cars mentioned, it is down to how much you are spending and parts availability really.

Anyway, good to see you doing your homework and not afraid to ask "which car should I get?". FWIW, my son and I used to drag race the Hyper 7 and 810. Both bottom and top end, and the Hyper 7 wonevery time...so it's definitely faster. I don't have a single negative thing to say about the Hyper 7 as a basher.Thinking of itnow has got me all geeked up so will take it for a spin tomorrow! :-)

So John, since you have first hand with both, what's your opinion between the two? I know you like the 810, but is the hyper 7 better, or just faster? Also what's the size comparison?

The 810 is not a true 1/8th buggy. It's footprint is somewhat smaller. To be honest, that puts me off completely. A car has to be incredibly special to be in a class of its own, and while the 810 is ok, it's not 'special'. I'd rather have a budget real 1/8th than a mid-range 1/9th.

If you are tossing up the Ideas in the air still, and I was in your shoes, I would go with the Hyper, literally tons of option parts still available worldwide, it's even able to race without worrying about major breakage. More than affordable as well.

I'd post pics of it next to the Losi 8ight 2.0 and the layman would take a second to figure out the size difference. If I put it next to my 1/10 scale it looks like a monster. Ha! Whatever the size, I love it! It's a buggy that's on rails yet is very durable. She's my little whippet. :-)
The Hyper 7 is a growth spurt away from being a truggy. Ha ha! That is my son's favorite vehicle. We always try to outdo each other with it. The Hyper 7 is faster, but the 810 looks and feels faster. If I could find another new Losi 810 for $200, I'd snatch it in a heatbeat. People just aren't selling them, and their owners sure ashell aren't..

I missed out on a awesome 810. A guy was selling one locally on consignment at our LHS. It had no scuffs on the chassis and the body was near mint. He wanted $225 and I didn't jump on it quick enough. That was a deal. Before they were disco'd I saw them for $300 new which was good also. Like I said, I know it capabilities and it's very capable. Unfortunately with me size does matter and I just can't get past it's smaller size.
