RE: What Starter Box
My vote goes for the gell cell, I use a 4.5Ah gell cell, its cheaper than 2 stick packs, charging is not really a problem at all cause if it goes flat while your out(which is only going to happen if your having a hard time breaking in an engine) you can boost it with your car battery, or 2 stick packs, or the cordlessdrill batt... etc etc. And the best thing off all is that with a proper charger(gell cell micro processesor controlled unit) you get no memory effect and it will last 10 years.

Psycho, you are probably doing the same thing I did which was to use a parallel Y harness rather than one wired in a series. In parralell you are only getting 7.2volts not 14.4

RE: What Starter Box
I think the main reason folks have trouble with the twin stick setup is they lack a good charger. Your middle of the road AC powered sport charger simply will not load the stick cells up like a good DC peak charger will. I run twin sticks (2400 Maxx packs) in my buggy and truggie box and they work great all day after a good hit from my CE Pitbull. I use my 30A power supply to run the box when breaking in engines, but the stick setup IMHO is the best for track use.
