I was jus wondering what the difference between Torsen, LSD and TCD Diffs are, and what the best setups would be for a Kanai 2. Thanks

standard gear diff - will transfer all power to the wheel (or end of the car, in the case of the center diff) with the least resistance, you can limit this by using silicone oil
limited slip diff (LSD)- does the same thing but is mechanically limited in how much it can transfer to one side relative to the other
traction control diff (TCD)- a form of limited slip, tightens up under power, loosens up off power...can be tuned somewhat with its own special fluid (basically ATF fluid in two different weights)...this is a proprietary design by yuichi kanai
torque sensing diff (torsen)- opposite of normal gear diff, will transfer power to the wheel with the most resistance via its clever design...also needs its own special fluid for lubrication, they are very expensive and rarely used on US style tracks (with lots of bumps and big jumps)
the K2 comes with a standard gear diff for the rear, and TCD diffs for front and center...the K3 comes with one TCD diff for the front, and standard gear diffs for the center and rear....benefits of either setup are arguable, as many people sell the TCD guts on ebay first thing and run standard gear diffs all around, tuned with standard silicone oils (typically 5k/7k/1k or 5k/7k/grease -front/center/rear as a good starting point)

thanks! I just found out my car has a Fioroni Storm traction diff in the centre, whats that? Is it a torsen diff?

Thanks a lot mate...one more question, the car has fron and rear TCDs, and under hard acceleration while exiting a corner the back has a tendency to kick into oversteer, is this because of the rear TCD? Coz it seems to me like it would act like a locked diff under full power, which would make the back kick out (coming from on road experience). Im thinking bout leaving the torsen there, and the front TCD, but putting a LSD in the back. What do you think?

very welcome
yeah, the TCD in the back is probably not helping...i have never heard of anyone using anything other than a plain gear diff in the rear, usually set up very loose (hence the 1K oil or just grease) to prevent the rear coming around...
you will have to play around with the setup and see what you prefer, its all a matter of preference really...i would definitely leave the torsen in the center though

i had a Storm traction diff in the centre of my Kanai & it made it almost undrivable!
the storm traction diffs aren't a proper Torsen as you can tell from the arrangement of the internal gears!
they are more like a planetary geared diff & due to the angles the teeth are cut at they seem to give a front/rear torque split with the bias to the front wheels, i estimate about 60%! this for me made the car too much like front wheel drive & made the car push on everywhere[:'(]
try using a standard centre with 7 or even 10,000 silicone & you should notice a marked improvement
the TCD diffs are called LSD diffs in the manual so they are one & the same, its just different translation!
there are no Limited Slip Diffs as such available for 1/8 buggys that i know of!
heres a link to an explanation on Diffs http://www.twf8.ws/new/tech/tip/diff.html
Nuova Faor make "Real" Torsens for the MP7.5 & according to UK team drivers these are the only Torsens that work in the Kyosho
