Hi there

I have the Lightning2rr RTR, but I am not sure if the Pro is a RTR ? as The box for the Pro shows no servos or reciver pack.

the Pro only has 3 brake discs! 1 on the rear & 2 on the front!
i think you'd be better off going for things like the CNC front steering knuckles or the Chassis braces
unless you already have them of course?
or maybe even things you can't see like the hardened diffs etc

Hi

I know the pro Has only 2 front and 1 rear, but if you look at the setup you can add a 2nd to the rear without any problems.

I will be working my way along a list that I have made for my upgrads so I will get there in the end Plus it also teaches me a lot about how my buggie is made and how it works.

Well maybe it is just a Lighting 2 RTR? I thought they were making a pro?(But I guess I was wrong) So how fast does the Lighting 2 RTR go?

they do make a Pro
that comes pre built but without engine & radio!
but it does come with all the CNC alloy bits plus all the Hardened diff parts[8D]
i wouldn't bother fitting an extra rear brake disc as the car stops OK on 3 discs!

how fast does it go? how long is a piece of string?

there are way too many variables to consider to even contemplate answering that question

how fast? more than fast enough for the type of person who asks that question

I bought a lightning 2rr about 2 weeks ago. the body is very strong it came with a .26 engine of which is pushing the car to 48 mph as i have a venom speedo attached. i am upgrading the parts to the pro version bit by bit. i know that you can get clutches and transmissions with different ratios but are not a substancial enough change to do anything.

i want to push the car past the 50 mph mark without buying a new engine.

are there any little tweaks i can use to do this. i have done the low and high speed settings. if i turn them either way now i lose speed.. any suggestions ie any pipes i can attache that will fit and increase hp.

Hi there

Mine is nice and fast LOL, But the again Im new to Nitro and fast to me might be slow to you ?
But before I tuned the engine I could stop in about 3m from top speed, once tuned it took nearly 8m to stop so it is faster LOL. Then again I might just need to adjust the brakes LOL.

Hi there M8

Well all I can say is find a Track and go try your Lightning out, Once you are there you will most probably find people will come over any way to have a look as you will have a different buggie from them. The only thing I can realy say is Upgraded what you like and see what it dose. But for me the main part of upgrading is to make my Buggie stronger and faster.

Hi there All

Doh it seems that I messed my engine settings up when the glow plug whent bad and I didnt know AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH, and to make things even harder for me. The cooling head came lose a bit so I decided to have a look LOL, 1 of the shimes had been damaged so I have had to remove it. I am now re-tunning the engine which is slowly getting there as when I reset the LSN to factory settings it move the Midrange Needle DOH. But it is running ok now and I am now fine tunning the engine (It was very hard work setting engine back up as it was the first time I have done it). But I have learnt a bit more about it now LOL.

not sure. i have ordered some upgrades from my lhs and are taking ages. i shed a clutch spring this weekend making a video for this site. i hope they come through as want to go up g3 racetrack this weekend. I will try to post the vid but don't know how....watch this space[8D]

If you find out about the kyosho part swap post it as maybe the parts will be more obtainable.

Hi there All

Well I had a good run on sunday at a new bash area that Captain Pugwash told me about. Only problem is that the caphead screw on the bottom of the Steering Arm came out and I did not notice DOH. Next big jump and pop the Steering Arm sheared in half, So its off to my LHS tommorow to see it he has the part (He has told me that he has just got a load of spares today, so I am hopefull that he will have the Steering Arm in). If not then its time to look through his stock and see if any otheres are the same (I have seen a Kyosho Steering Arm that looks the same) If not then I will have to order the Steering Arm and see how long it takes to come ? I will also have a look at the rest of his spares as I nearly have a full set of spare running gear for the Ligthning2, as when I see spares I go and get them (Hum did not get the Steering Arms AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH)

Hi M8Y

Ul about the arm, because its such a new model. hardly anyone holds stock. they have to order off www.mirageracing.com which is why it takes so long. [:@] take a look gives you all the prices if you havent already.

with the engine that was supplied with the rr, do you find that the rpm at which it operates, fluctuates in a way that sometimes its fast then sometimes it dont go above say 25mph wierd. i have run it in properly and was fine for about 2 weeks then one day i got it out without any tweaking, it reduced in speed now it will not go above 40 without running it super lean. i mean i have it turned below 2 1/2 turns from closed on the high speed needle. My low speed is fine and is set to 3 turns so is ok on mixture.

This is only temporary and has had only 2 tanks through it at this level but want to return.

ANY IDEAS WHY THIS HAPPENS[&o]
AND HOW TO CORRECT.

Thanks

Hi there M8

I had mine running so sweet that it whent like a rocket, then the glow plug whent bad and I thought it was the tunning so I kept adjusting it DOH. When I worked out what was rong my tunning was so messed upthat I though I know what Ill just reset it to the factory settings and start again. Only problem was when I reset the LSN it turned the mid range neddle out DOH!!! it has taken me over a week to get it up and running as it was before but now it gos nice and fast again and sounds sweet.

As for the Steering Arm I am hopeing that Speedy Modles in Preston will have it as when he got the Lightning2 in he also got some spares as well which I now have. When I phoned him today I was told that they had just recived a del of spares for the Lightning but had not opened the box up. So I am off to them in the morning to have a look, I am sure that the Koyso Steering Arm is the same as well so I will take the broken one with me and have a look.

P.S. Check your comprsion ?
