im a newb with engins i wanted to know must the carb be fully closed when idle or should i adjust it to open a bit more on idle?????? and should i make the carb tite (hard to open and close the carb) ????????

it should be open about .5mm, BUT its hard to adjust based on sight,

you should turn your engine on, and adjust it off the ground (on a starter box) and just see if the car moves by itself at idle. and also see it the car dies when you brake.

if the carb was closed the engine wouldnt run

im having probs with my engine too..it appears to be running very hot yet ive got it so rich it doesnt run with full potential..i have plenty of smoke yet with a bran new temp guage it is shouwing in the 300* range.i may have a faulty guage..ive spit on the head and it just sits there..not sure what to do..please help
