Dr Rod Bender, who sells the 4 disc brake upgrade? I looked at all the regular sites I visit and can't find anything on the upgrade. Also on the clutch bell and shoes, everytime I look for parts I find nothing listed for the mayhem, so either I need to find a good source for parts or what interchanges with the mayhem.

I`ve had my Mayhem Pro since last summer. Put a SH .21 6 port in it. This is the best buggy / engine combo I`ve done and seen. The only thing I`ve had a problem with is the clutch shoes it came with. Weak material, I put in Ofna aluminum shoes and has been great. The wing mount tends to come loose , but other than that it is pretty much race ready out of the box. I race it every weekend against Mugens , ofnas and xray buggies . [8D]

Has anyone tried the recomended setups that are on the horizon web site. I think I am going to try the Lee Morrison setup at my track. What do yall think? Also I went to that southeastrc.com place and didn't see anything on a jp-1 header! Also is there a tool that can measure caster and camber? I am new to the 1/8 scale buggy world and would like to learn a few things!

got it, broke it in, harder to tune right than my 4tec, but let me tell you---i love this buggy. my g/f son (6 yrs old) stepped out in front of it at about 30 and it took his feet right out from under him. didnt even hurt the buggy---and he is alright also. i have yet to even put the 9mm throat in it, i figure i should get used to the buggy first after i saw how fast it is. and the radio that comes with it is amazing to be in a rtr kit as far as the adjustability of it. i have not had a problem with the brakes on it, it will lock the tires at will and rip grass up or tear knobbies off of the tires on asphalt. i have not had a problem with the clutch yet either.

shares exactly the same
fr/rr differentials , gears, conical gears, outdrives and unique diff shells
with the LOSI LST monstertruck !

Shock towers can be better. They look so thin stock. It will be a matter of time b4 it bends. Nothing no one can fix
One more thing. Check the shock oils :P.When i opened me shocks up. Only 3 was factory filled and one none at all .lol.
Let's see if i break anything in these two weekends.I got both the ARR kits with and without engine. But i'll be running the one with the engine this saturday and let's see.

I just received my new 5mm shock towers and they are alot beefier than the ones I had on my rtr. These are nice. I had to grind down some of the bulk head on the front and that was it. I hope the rest of the buggy can hold with the crono 8 port rb mod.

first real playday with the mayhem was saturday, myself and 2 friends one with a savage 25 and one with a monster gt went to a sandpit and played for a couple of hours. the mayhem really impressed me with how much and what it would do. i went straight up a wall on the side of a washout and landed on top of it. they could not, but they also went one place that i could not go, i could have with a little more ground clearance though. long story short-----absolute ton of fun. we probably burned at least a gallon of fuel.

My Mayhem has consistantly put smiles on my face since I bought it. Myself and others alike are always suprised by the quality and level of performance you see with one of these buggies.

it has a one way bearing in the start, you can tell when you start the engine and leave the roto-start in, it stops turning while the engine is running.

Hello everyone, I work at a hobby shop here in town and I just read R/C Car magazine and was looking at the Buggy Competition in there and saw that the Mayhem was #1. I got a Mayhem RTR in my shop and looked at it. It does impress me but ive heard and read that the difs give this buggy some issues. So my question to all of you is what do you suggest to fix them or do they even need to be fixed. Also what do you recomend for dif oil? I believe that it was 3000, 5000, 7000, but i've never had a buggy so i dunno. One other question is what does the 053 Tuned pipe mean? what does 053 mean cuse i see that on alot of buggy's.
Thanks
Thanks

well, i broke the mayhem saturday afternoon. the rear body mount and the muffler holding wire. i lost a screw out of the rear stiffner brace causing the rear body mount to break when i landed a jump upside down. i did have it about 10-15 feet in the air a few times during the day.

Com on' guys! lets get some updates. How are the mayhems doing in races? What things are breaking if any?? What parts have you found out that are interchangable? What are some good setups you have developed? I raced mine for the first time this weekend and in the stock buggy class I took home a 2nd place in heat 1, a 1st place in heat 2, and a 4th in the final! And that is out of about 13 buggies. I have yet to break anything. The tracks I race on are pretty hooked up but I would like my buggy to turn better. What would yall suggest? I have already changed the diff fluids and have 5,000 wt in the front, 7,000 in the middle and 2,000 in the rear. I put 40 wt shock oil in, and put mugen clutch shoes and and 1mm springs in. what kinds of tricks can I do to make the front turn sharper both on power and off?

Well since you asked. The first weekend I raced mine, I didn't break a thing. However, I did lose some screws and lost my Carb retainer screw. But, the buggy held up well. This past weekend, I had something in the front diff come loose so it wasn't working. I had a friend who offered to fix it while I was working the corner in the next race. The next race, I broke a steering servo case. The next race I had a steering servo go bad after leeding the first lap. I borrowed a servo and finished 3rd in the 'B' main. That is only my second race weekend as a 1/8 buggy driver. I'm middle-of-the-pack just because of my driving experience.
I love the buggy. That dang thing is tough as nails!
I'm running 5-7-1 on the diff oil, 40wt shock oil, JP-1 pipe

Cool glad you like yours as much as I like mine! They are great buggies for the money. And I love the engine!! I get the whole shot everytime! lol Guess that is due to the .26 but what some don't know, want hurt! haha Mine jumps great and handles rythem sections like a pro buggy, but I do wish I could get a little more steering out of her! keep em coming guys!

That's funny you say that because I had the hole shot in each of my 4 races this past weekend. I didn't keep the lead each time though. I still don't feel as if I have my low-end is good. I seem to be missing some of the quickness the other guys have. However, some of those guys are running much more expensive engines.
I also wish I had better steering. I just don't seem to be able to make the tight turns that a lot of other buggies do. A lot of guys I run against run Mugens. But like you said, for the money this buggy is great. I'm new to nitro so I have a lot to learn as well.
FYI - I posted a pic of my buggy on the picture thread today. It's the tiger striped buggy on page 15. I wanted sopmething a little different.

I saw your pic, looks awsome man!! There are several things you can do to make your buggy turn a little sharper. I havn't figured them all out yet but I am working on them. Mine doesn't seem to have the snap others do too. Even in the stock buggy class it seems to lack a little on the bottom end. I am currently running a 14 tooth clutch bell and it does better than factory, but I went ahead and orderd at 13 tooth for the short tracks I race on! I am going to keep experimenting with the setup to see if I can get it to turn a little sharper! I will let yall know how it goes. I think alot of the lack of bottom end is really traction, cause this buggy tracks perfectly straight even when spinning! Try useing a little throttle finess when coming up to a jump right after a turn. Ease into the throttle and give it a little full throttle snap right at the top of the jump and see if that doesn't help!! A good place to get parts for the Mayhem is www.fullthrottlehobbies.com. Great prices and quick delivery!! They actual sponser a guy that races the Mayhem in the pro level so it must be a pretty good buggy! Lets keep em coming guys with any helpfull tips and things that might break on us since alot of LHS' don't cary parts for them yet!!
